December Larkham Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 So I'm making some 'wounds' for the legacy body (f perky) and I used a diffuse layer and norm layer, didn't mess with the spec and left that blank. This is what I get. https://i.gyazo.com/5a1971ad413e446883e2b9831998edf5.mp4 and https://i.gyazo.com/0aa29261cfde9202e8698fc3441360c7.mp4 I have no idea where the copyright(?) spec is coming from. I have had this issue before when trying to apply a gloss texture on top of a BOM skin. Could it be my BOM skin? I'm just so baffled, please help!

You can always grab some demo skin from other creator and check. Or try to remove all BoM layers you have on, then add them 1 by 1 and check with your creation. But yes, it does look like a skin issue. I know Deetalez has copyright watermarks on her skins that are supposed to be seen under special PS filters, so it's possible that some other creators are doing the same (unless it's actually a Deetalez skin, difficult to see that on a video).

There are no other BOM layers. And since BOM only effects the diffuse layer, I don't think it has to do with that. When I take off my applier, the skin returns to normal. I had some people on plurk suggest to have my normals saved as a tga at 32 bit, so I did. And to also use a pure white spec map, which I also did. This is the result: https://i.gyazo.com/9b880d68b9d1d110f0615883898bf975.mp4 Still something I can't release lol... *cries*
MaxMare Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 You should "clean up" your normal map...I guess you generated Normal map from diffuse, but that doesn`t really give optimal results, delete/erase everything except the actual bite (no bruises or any kind of smudges), also bare in mind maps generated like that will always make darker tones more prominent, the point is, it will not look great without editing either diffuse and generating another normal map or editing normal map...Here`s what I suggest (and how I fix minor issues), open normal map in PS and select tightly around bitemarks, invert selection and fill it with normal-purple color to cover up any small distortions you might not be able to see with naked eye... Hopefully I managed to explain this so it makes sense...
Kyrah Abattoir Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 One of your tools add cheeky watermarks? One of your source textures has a hidden alpha layer?
