Question

Posted

So I'm making some 'wounds' for the legacy body (f perky) and I used a diffuse layer and norm layer, didn't mess with the spec and left that blank.

This is what I get.

I have no idea where the copyright(?) spec is coming from. I have had this issue before when trying to apply a gloss texture on top of a BOM skin. Could it be my BOM skin? I'm just so baffled, please help!

Same question also asked in Creation -> Building and Texturing forum

December, I don't have any answer for your question, but wanted to note that you had the question posted in two different places, because when people answering aren't aware of that, it can make it difficult for you to get a cohesive answer.  Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I have about texturing will see your other post soon and will be able to give you some answers or pointer.

BOM skins can't contain any specular information at all because of their data structure. The Legacy body may automatically use a specular place-holder texture if one isn't provided.

You may be getting some unwanted Specular effect coming from a 32 bit Normal map via Specular Exponent. Check the bit depth of your normal map(s). If they're 32 bit and you don't need them that way, change them to 24 bit. If you want them to be 32 bit, carefully edit their alpha channels so that they are black everywhere except the wound(s) detail.
