M.S. FS - 2020.
Are we allowed to talk about that?
I'll get it at some stage soon and look forward to staging some Passenger, Pilot & Hostie piccies. :)
Little movies would be fun!

Flying High anyone? 😏

Boycott Microsoft, they've laid monopolistic waste to the once-promising west coast microcomputer industry and have much to answer for, not least of which is Bill Gates' oligarchy and endless memes of enslavement and fealty to his depraved predatory corporation.

I was all set to buy the new MSFS2020, until I saw the frame rates some of the early reviewers were getting.  Even with killer gaming rigs and top notch GPUs, they were seeing around 30 fps when they cranked up the graphics settings, and no more than about 50-60 with the settings turned down.  Plus complaints of constant crashing.  Plus the "real world" is modeled from satellite images.  What this means when you try to look at a building horizontally (instead of down on it from the top) is severe distortion.

I'll wait a year at least.

I was watching a video about the Kobe Bryant crash and youtube decided that I was some kind of aviation buff and kept recommending all of these control tower communication videos. All these call signs and acronyms being thrown around. It was nuts. Why use this simulator? Don't we have planes in SL?

We do, but an actual flight sim program is a lot more realistic.  If you don't like any feature, like the air traffic control communications, you can turn it off and just enjoy aviating.  (Aviating...is that a word?)

Last time was on a Macintosh. The first one with the 512x384 resolution. MS wrote their own booting system and windows manager for it so it would run without Mac OS, to save on RAM. The sounds were already pretty good and I loved circling around Alcatraz to see if I could see Clint Eastwood in a raft.

In the new release, you just about can.  The terrain data is taken from satellite imagery.  The weather is based on real time weather at that location.  The air traffic in the area is based on actual air traffic data.  Even the ground and sea traffic are as accurately depicted as possible for that time and location.
