Can media embedded in a prim be shared with other avis?

I recently discovered that after building an object I could select a face and in the texture panel select "media" to play youtube music, etc.

I can't figure out how to share this media with other avis.  Is this possible?

I believe they just need to have their media streaming setting on in their viewer and they should be able to see it..Just as they can hear the same music as everyone else with a sim music stream..

Hi thank you for your response. Yeah when I was trying to share I did check to make sure they had media streaming enabled on their viewer. The media url I had set was for a youtube video, and what my friends experienced was just the url box appearing when mousing over the object.

They can all watch the same URL, but not necessarily in sync. If everybody wants to watch Night of the Living Dead, they can, but they won't all be seeing it at the same point in the film.

LL recently deployed a viewer which allows watching live streaming media. If you have your own streaming source, you can now get everybody watching in sync. This is for performance events, but could have other uses. (Is that in the current release viewer, or still pending.)

there are ways.. its how the tv's work in sl. I think somewhere in wiki or the scripting libraries it explains how it is done for anyone wanting to create their own. but as was said it wont let each person watch in sync with each other at the moment. You would need to use an outside service such as Kast

or you could try and modify a script like this one to suit your needs. TV
