What about Maitreya an LeLutka as merchants though?

Those are brand names. Can you tell me - without checking - the avatar names of the merchants behind those brands?

Answers behind the spoiler tag:

Maitreya = Onyx Leshelle

Lelutka = Thora Charron

Not the slightest clue. I didn't know the brand and merchant names were different.

No, you don't know me. You only know yourself.

You may not have met anyone who hasn't heard of them but that doesn't mean they don't exist. It only means that you don't know they exist. If you don't go outside of your "adult community" then there are tons of things you don't know about. Even those that do go outside of their regular communities don't know a lot of what goes in SL. It's simply not possible to know everything there is to know about SL and the people in it.

I have no disagreement. It is a little difficult to go outside of my community when my display name is Pearl Sextoy lol!!!

Minors ruined this game for me and the other sims. They are lying about their ages and posing that they are older than 18.
As a guy, its terrifying being put in a situation like that when you have no clue who's behind the computer screen.

So because of this bull***** and the fact that anyone can get an account and fake their age. I'm done with all this ***** once and for all.

It was fun while it lasted but I'm tired of kids nowadays and how much access they really have.

lmaooooo what 😭

I think this says it all. You sound like a grumpy old man yelling at us kids to get off your lawn... Or maybe you've just been living in a basement all your life.

Second Life is not a dating site. You never know who is behind the avatar! I joined Second Life when I was under 18, and I have no interest in online dating or the adult genre. Most under 18s still in second life do not have an interest in that kind of thing. But there's really not many around. Most of my friends have since got bored and left.

I was also restricted to General rated regions until I turned 18. And even then, I had to write a support ticket stating that I am now over 18 and would like access to moderate rated regions. I block adult content by choice.

Yes, people lie about their age - but that's not just restricted to virtual communities. If any under 18s are taking part in the 'adult' activity, then they're probably yucky boys looking for pixel porn.

Actually, most of the people in Second Life are older than they appear. SL does not seem to have much appeal to today's teens.

Yes, this is  true. Facebook is for olds. Second Life is for the older-olds. I have to admit I hadn't even heard of Second Life until I saw a video about Fennux on YouTube.

I joined Second Life because I was interested in Fennux and 3D art. That gave me a reason to stay. I keep very much to myself on my own land now though, and tend to stick to regions I know and trust. I'm just not interested in most of the other activities that go on in Second Life. If there was no breedable pets like Fennux, I'd probably just leave Second Life too.

And we never had sex before 18 in RL? I definitely do not want anyone under 18 in SL though.

Why?

Second Life has lots of communities. The adult community is just one.

In comparison, I think Second Life is like going to the mall or walking down a shopping street - there's some places that are strictly 'adults' only so I do not enter. Does that mean children and teens should be banned from going to the mall or just going outside too? Of course some try and get in 18+ places - such as bars, etc, but most are caught on the door.

I've read some of your other posts, and you seem to hang out in Adult regions and do adult things. That's your choice. That's your Second Life. I choose to avoid those areas. There are a lot activities in Second Life that do not revolve around cyber sex.

Not wanting anyone under 18 in Second Life is your opinion. I just have to disagree.  I can understand why you wouldn't want under 18s in adult content regions, but there's no reason to ban them from Second Life completely.

As already mentioned - most under 18s are not interested in Second Life anyway.  I'm probably one of a small percentage that did join and stayed - because I had a reason for joining.

I feel compelled to answer. As an adult that has used the computer online connection since q-link was a thing back in the day, I'm shocked you think this is a terrifying thing. Kids, teenagers even adults have lied about their age since the dawn of BBS'. It's not shocking they would do so on second life. And I'm shocked you're now just coming to this realization when it's been a thing since SL started many moons ago.

The old BBSs.  Now I really feel old.  I remember dialing up on those and hoping to get on instead of a busy signal.

I have found SL to be a very adult community, so I personally would prefer people under 18 to not be here. There really is nothing we can do about people lying about there age. Even with ID verification, ID's can be faked or borrowed. Same with credit cards

But not grown-up sophistication. And being honest, if a teen has the intelligence and wit to be able to pass themselves off as an adult, doesn't that actually say as much about them as any genuine ID method?

I have to be honest with this.. Internet didn't exist before my generation turned 18, so yes as teenagers we used to have normal physical joyful sex, when we were lucky to find a willing girl of course..

(** otherwise some VHS pron would take care of the raging hormones issue.)

Age isn't simply physical for sure.

Most of us girls never had issues finding someone willing lol!

They have short attention spans, they’re clumsily direct, often mercurial, and just don’t have the emotional and social sophistication to maintain the pretense of adulthood for long.

Aside from LL refusing to evolve content creation features to a level found in many competing sandbox MMOs today, this is another reason SL struggles to attract younger users.

Sadly, it's getting worse every generation and takes many these days hitting their 30's or older to lose such personas/mentalities. Some never lose them...

Yeah i know.. no need to remind me those horrible years.. almost every girl i liked dated older men and almost every older woman i liked also dated older men.

Life was cruel at that time for a kid 13-14-15 years old... Anyway it was one of the early lessons that life usually teaches men "never waste time talking and get straight to the point".

I waited until I was 18.  I'm sure I'm not alone in that.  I'm so glad it's not up to you what age LL decides is appropriate for joining SL.  You stick to your Adult regions; other people want other choices.

True it's "never really called for".......but I think some might be more empathetic if the poster was a regular forum member who did not often display such behavior.  We might be more inclined to think they're simply having a bad day, and offer solutions. We'd know they probably weren't truly flouncing, but that they were saying this in anger.

You know how much I dislike angry ranting. It could happen to anyone of us though. We are all human.

We can never know what is going on behind the keyboard in someone's life.  What is posted here is often the tip of the iceberg.  Everyone has empathy failure from time to time, everyone gets fed up with the behaviour of others and everyone has their triggers.

I think if someone gets upset by the behaviour of others and they don't want to hang around any more, they should just go and take time out.  They may feel differently later, or maybe not.  Endless screeds, time after time, of raging drama filled pity angst about how "I've always been a victim and you people are as bad as everyone else who treated me bad ma whole life!" don't really achieve anything except make people roll their eyes.

It is better to fade away quietly, calm down and deal with the angst and decide what to do when it has all faded away into the proper perspective.

Of course nobody is perfect either and there is often a gulf between what people know is good for them and what they will do anyway because raging feels good at the time.

I began reading this thread deeply concerned and was ready to consider the OP's predicament in all seriousness....
until....
the baby Please Don't Go video, whereupon I nearly weed myself with laffter. 😆👀🤫
It all went downhill from there.

So here's another.....

What? I'm disappointed. No one did the rant that they are called regions, not sims, in SL.

(I really dislike it when *those* people do rant, but c'mon... it is even in the title of the OP!)

I guess no one would believe me now if I said I was 19, and have been on SL since I was 8?  But... but... "old-olds"  :::sobs:::
