I was just thinking about great shopping experiences and brands that have poofed from the grid never to be seen again! Here's three from the eons of grid history: Muism - mens clothing , nice shopping experience too. Armidi - Woman and mens clothing - one of the first full region store builds I went to back in the day that offered a fully cohesive shopping experience with all avatar apparel catered for, sadly gone now. I'll never forget those sculpty leg warmers lol  Who remembers  'Stiletto moody' ? Completely overpriced sculpted prim shoes that my female avi friends loved.

 Armidi

Stiletto Moody

Muism

Last Call.

Artilleri.

The whole bunch of Kyoot, Surf Couture Co., Pig and alike.

Tuli.

And I wish Zaara would also be more active.

... stupid me. I literally got the whole Fri.Day store in inventory, but always stick to the same dull system shirt. 🤪

Jungle Voodoo, for my first neko tail, ears and skins.

Wonderhair, and Sirena.

Izumiya, which was a little Japanese freebie store. They had great poses, I still use a lot of them now, and I wish I had picked up all (6 or 8?) packs before they disappeared.

Evian skins.

Antique Artistry.

When I joined SL for the 3rd time, the first store I looked for was Antique Artistry.

I found them on Marketplace with some Victorian homes but the 2-story sim of all kinds of beautiful "antique" things was gone and the makers were way ahead of their time and I'm thinking perhaps were even some of the first with mesh or pre-mesh as their antiques were so realistic.

I just looked again in search inworld and there is only a group for Antique Artistry, no more store of the things I want.  I am not looking for a house.

I just found a new store on Marketplace for Antique Artistry and has a lot of 1 linden items.  They weren't pre-mesh as I wrote above but I knew there was something incredible about their work.  According to this bit I found, there items were pre-sculpty.  They were and are amazing builders.

Here's a bit about them:

ABOUT ANTIQUE ARTISTRY
-----

Antique Artistry was formed in 2006 by two long-time SL creators, Poppet McGimsie and Fatima Ur, who have created literally thousands of SL objects, animations, scripts, textures and soundscapes.

Poppet has been making antique furniture all along, including texturing, mesh modeling, scripting and animations. The pieces we offer have often been developed over the last decade, starting even before sculpted prims were possible. The challenge is always to create something that is beautiful, realistic, well-crafted, and low prim.

We are able to offer items here on the Marketplace at a great savings, since we no longer need to spend thousands of dollars per month paying tier. These items are offered at a savings of hundreds of Lindens over what they would cost in our in world stores and are of the same high quality and workmanship as you will find being sold by others at a much higher cost.

I decided to try on some of my old clothing and hair. Hair is from Surf and Co - Hudsen and the outfit is Last Call  -  Casablanca.  I didn't  attempt to squeeze my fat mesh feet into prim shoes, though maybe another time.

Weird ***** (poo, but not the pg for LL eyes version that gets caught by the filters here), whose name was later changed to I believe weirdiculous or something odd like that...the store did still exist, kinda, sorta, a lil bit, at least a few years ago in sl, but not really, nothing new...

I miss that place, that had some of the coolest, funniest, most entertaining stuff, both for its time, and even after, a huge part of that being due to it being pre-mesh and simply the good humored, and not, nature of what they sold and why they sold it. A lot of gag gifts and cool stuff. That's where my devil av came from. I also own a LOT, most I bet, Of their other stuff, lol.

Not a clothing shopper, never really have been, so can't help on the apparel front. I have the same opinion about fashion here that I do in rl...huge waste of money, better spent on other dumb stuff (for me, others can do what they like, of course)

The creators mentioned was ahead of their time. If they had continued in SL, they would have evolved and continued to be popular. Maybe mesh stopped them? Or was that they were tired of SL? Now I see their things with nostalgia, but the same time I see what I would not buy today. Thick hair that goes straight into the forehead without any tendrils or edge to soften the look. I think Cake hair and DMD hair was one of the brands that had softer edges.

Is 69 hair still in SL, have they renamed their store...?

Now we have hairbases that hides the edge in front, so it looks better now than it did 10 years ago. The things I wear today, is few. Like Zaara leggings, tops and underwear from some of the creators gone.

Curio skin. I was actually wearing it a bit when we got BoM. I began to be more critical after a few weeks and now it is packed down. Dutch Touch was skin I loved back then.

Virtual Attire by Shannara Llewellyn, which used to be on Wish Song region

was a neko store which had a whole bunch of lucky chairs that gave complete outfits. Also Midnight Mania boards and Special Offer boards. Lots of people would go there to play the chairs and shop and chat. The store also hired people as shop hosts who would stand by the chairs, greet people and help to keep the chat flowing. Shannara used to produce several new outfits each week, aging out the older outfits to the chairs and boards

was one of the LMs I had in my Give To New Person folder

TheAbyss for sexy boots and I had a gorgeous halter I loved from here.
Blaze for sexy gowns.
Deviance, Wishbox and Evie's Closet were great for fantasy - and they are still about today I believe.
Icing for awesome vintage wear.
Nymphetamine for scrumptious lingerie.
Nyte N Day for great casual wear.
WoE for the best jeans on the grid.

I still have everything boxed and stored in my inventory from these, and other stores.  I'm a hoarder!
