Dancing Emote and Service Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

So, here's a bit of backstory before I get onto to my questions. I've only been on SL for a few months. During this time, I've done a small bit of dancing and escorting here and there but mostly due to receiving a couple weird requests early on... that although didn't all end in sex per-say, definitely ventured me into that strange fetishy part of SL. Although it did come across like a weird but (mostly) fun writing assignment (and was surprisingly lucrative?), after those experiences I'm still not quite sure I want to pursue escorting (even though I find that much easier than dancing for some reason? More variety I suppose..) I think I would rather pursue dancing as of now. So! That being said! Finally onto my questions....

For anyone who dances (primarily freelance):

How many emotes should I have written up and ready in my arsenal? Obviously, I understand some things will have to be improv and done on the fly depending on the situation - that's fine. But how many standard ways of doing certain things do you have written up? Do you have it organized by section?

How long do one-on-one dances usually go on for? If someone sits at your chair, how long are they generally there for? What's your standard 'rule' for disrobing? Do you go back to the pole after removing an item of clothing or stay with the client?

Do you expect them to pay you before/during/after? If they ask for you to go elsewhere with them 'for more fun' when you'd rather just keep dancing is there a way to politely decline?

I'm sure I have more questions but these are the ones that immediately spring to my mind. Like I said, I've only done a small bit of any of this (and honestly was just very lucky with timing, as these things sort of fell into my lap. It also helps that the gentlemen I have been with were very understanding upon seeing how new I was). I'd really appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Thanks!

Usually it's $L250 for topless. and $L500 for naked. I never have any prewritten emotes. I say what we have fun with!!!  But do have a prewritten arsenal for you to practice with. I personally enjoy Escorting more. Too many rules as an employed dancer for my taste. The time we stay with a client depends on the club rules before we go back to a pole.

For Escorting, always get paid before. Make sure to friend your client before starting, so that if they crash, or you do you can refund $L. I do it prorated.

If a client want's to go elsewhere for more fun that's fine...if they are willing to pay!!!

Some guys are not nice, so be prepared for that.

Escorting IS hard work, so you have to really be dedicated. I love it personally!!!

I would love to meet you inworld sometime. IM me. It will be fun and easier to discuss these things inworld!!!

P.S,: be sleazy and kinky, but NOT cheap!!!

Wow! I didn't expect to receive any kind of quick responses as I wasn't sure if my questions were too obvious or overly asked, so I really appreciate the feedback!

Yeah, that's understandable. When I was briefly considering trying to work as an 'employed dancer', I quickly realized some of the rules seemed a bit too restrictive for my liking. I'm here for fun and to make some $L on the side and unfortunately they make it sound like such an obligation (well... it's a job, so I understand it absolutely *IS* an obligation. Just not one I'd currently be willing to take on unless I found the right place) so freelance seems like the way to go for me for now.

In regards to escorting ... that's really smart about about friending them first!

Unfortunately, I've definitely already been on the receiving end of someone who turned out to be not-so-nice. Thankfully, this all happened AFTER our first encounter was already done with and he had already compensated me; so there was no love-loss once they turned out to be a jerk. Apparently he felt I was obligated to continue things with him well after our VERY LONG (and incredibly bizarre/hilarious) first encounter.

That would be great! I'll be sure to reach out! Thanks again!

I also do some freelance dancing/escorting in SL. Most places I used to work at had prices set at $500L for topless and $1000 for nude. There were other rates for state-side cuddles and such too. Most one on one dances go for a minimum of 15-20 minutes with the client paying extra for more time.

Payment ALWAYS happens prior to you performing any act be it taking your top off or stripping nude. General rule for disrobing at least for me was always staying on my platform or at my pole unless a client paid for cuddles or stage-side services. Also NEVER go AFK while working, that’s very poor form!

Emotes tend to be done on the fly, I never have anything pre-written, as I enjoy the thrill of making my emotes unique to each client. You also have the right to tell a client ‘No’ to any request. Set rules in your rate-card/profile picks as well so guys can read that and understand your boundaries. Never do anything you’re uncomfortable with doing. Also have a good and varied wardrobe. Guys all like different things after all.

Hello Alix

I am the  Caroline Takeda mentioned before.

I am in the sex business (one way or another) since 2007. I was around a bit. I also write about it on several blogs under different persona. The most popular one being this:

[NSFW] https://www-second-life-adventures.com

If there is one thing you should avoid is "pre-scripted emotes".  With that you are setting yourself up for failure. Clients who pay for that kind of performance do want and deserve your attention. Most of them are clever enough to distinguish between copy/paste and true attention. Just practise your emoting skills and don't overdue it. They don't come to read long winded erotic novels. Many clients also seek sexy conversation, or just somebody who listens to them.

Freelance dancing/stripper is not easy. You need a place for that. Either your own place which you promote as such a venue or you go to an existing venue. They do the marketing work for you. Another option is of course an escort agency or a combination of both.

This is how we promote our girls:

I personally prefer escorting. Its better paid and  to me much more fun. To be successful in this you need to make sure, your clients do not just come for sex or to watch a half naked avatar performing some animations on a pole but because of YOU. YOU need to be unique for them, something they can not get at the free sex places (of which sl has a lot!).

And always: No pay, no play.

Thank you both for your feedback and advice, It was very helpful and informative! Admittedly, I've been doing less of both dancing and escorting as of recently. For the time being I've mostly just been having some casual fun with people as I try to get a better grasp on emoting on the fly (though every now and then I have picked up a client or two). It's been a lot of fun and very educational to say the least.

That being said, I definitely agree with the preferring escorting over dancing. A lot more exciting things can be done with a person than with a pole.

I disagree with the "sleazy" part, but guessing it may be a "lost in translation" thing.  I would say be creative, uninhibited, fun and kinky...but never sleazy.

Sleazy evokes a feeling of unwashed, corrupt, immoral but I'm all for kinky!

I meant sleazy as roleplay. I would be the first one to get upset at any girl or guy who truly showed themselves to be RL sleazy in the bad sense.. And I would, and will, make it quite, quite clear to them when necessary!!!
