Ishka Magic Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 No idea if this is the right forum. This thread is for anyone who likes to share good or interesting cover versions of songs I start with a song where I love this cover version equally to the original: 5 1

ChinRey Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) I know I shouldn't overdo my replies here but there were two bands that took the concept of covers to a new level. Mannfred Mann: Edited July 25, 2020 by ChinRey
Pixie Kobichenko Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) Ooooh the perfect thread! This is a new-to-me song from a movie I watched this past week. It’s not necessarily a cover, well, it’s not a cover, but it samples a bit of Crimson & Clover. I reeeeeally like this song. Edited July 25, 2020 by Pixie Kobichenko 1
Cindy Evanier Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Almost forgot this one. Love the original but...
Amina Sopwith Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) Another thing that gives me the "don't know if this is that ASMR thing but either way it's lovely" shivers. Something about the sound of a violin on certain notes. Edited July 25, 2020 by Amina Sopwith 4 1
Pixie Kobichenko Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Buddy Holly (above) & Sam Cooke (below) &- Gary Glitter & The Bee Gees 4
Garnet Psaltery Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) Good timing. I heard this on a music stream this morning. Edited July 25, 2020 by Garnet Psaltery
Maitimo Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 I'm sure someone is going to post Johnny Cash's "Hurt" but he covered another at around the same time. It didn't become as well-known as Hurt, but again he took U2's original, which is an up-beat and hopeful song, and turned it into another poignant reflection on regret and mortality. 1 1
