MysticRose1 Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Hi! Wondering if there is any way at all for the doors on the houseboats to be made so anyone can go through? First time I've run into a friend that has height at 100 and legs at 100 not able to get through a door in all my years in SL TY! Mystic 1
Marianne Little Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 The door frame and the wall would need to be phantom over the door. I can not see that option in the house controller. You could always ask @Patch Lindenif they will upgrade the LHomes to fit so tall avatars... if not, all your friend can do is to zoom in and sit on furniture. 1

I do not doubt that you are right, but she asked if it was any way and I replied to that. I did not say that LL would do it. 1
Love Zhaoying Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Have your friend duck when going through the doorway. 4
Gregorian Chant Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 I have the same problem with some doors when I'm wearing high-heel platforms. And my height is at 85 and leg length at 74. Many people call me overly tall. Ten years ago I was considered average. There seems to be increasing grid-wide discrimination against taller avatars. Modern furniture never fits right. I blame my parents for genetics. (Thanks a lot, Dad!) If I'm having trouble navigating around enclosed spaces, there's no hope for the rest of them statuesque bastards. Your friend will either have to cam inside and sit on furniture like Marianne said or double-click on any spot on the floor to teleport in.
Pussycat Catnap Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 (edited) Those doors are so high over my avatar it feels like I'm walking into a Roman senatorial building... I can't imagine how anyone can even make an avatar big enough to come close to them. I didn't realize you could make an avatar over 4.548m in height... Some of you folks need to dial it back a bit... MysticRose1 Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 lol.. I'll tell him to be sure to duck Thank you all for your responses. I doubt they'd do so either. Easy if we had the ability to do some editing like make a wall phantom. Wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thought of switching to one of the houses, but guessing the doors are the same on all the linden homes. Again, thank you! Mystic
Ziggy Starsmith Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Just sit outside on the deck to visit. Too ridiculously tall.
Syo Emerald Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Anyone who doesn't fit through the main opening of a houseboat, should not worry about this... as they would not fit inside the houseboat itself. I strongly advice against trying to squeeze a dragon into a houseboat. 2
Gem Oxygen Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 In real life, people have to duck and adjust their life to being tall, they duck through doors, live in higher ceiling homes, have to get their cars drivers seats custom adjusted. They live with this because they HAVE to, they was born that way. How ever in SL, you get to pick your avatars looks, persona, you are what you make yourself. In all my years in SL, I have no idea why people think it is ok to be odd shaped avatars and expect Second Life world to cater just to them for what they COULD change to life a normal Second life or at least close enough to avoid issues with doors, animations, furniture. Its like a Nun walking into a porn store and being offended, like duuuuh. Oh I get the" I can be whom I want, it's MY Second life" quote, it's beaten into anyone who opposes out of norm avatars, trust me, I have heard it sooooo many times in my 10 yrs here, not only directly at me but in clubs, private regions,. So my advice," Be whom you want in Second Life, have fun, explore, do things, how ever if you are in a odd shaped avatar, don't expect the Lindens to give you special treatments or anyone else because in SL you are the way you are because you CHOSE to be, nobody else is, you live with your choices not only in SL but it works that way in the real world too." 1
Aethelwine Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 I might be wrong but I don't think ducking will help as it is just an animation. At that height I imagine they must suffer from vertigo, so perhaps offering them a wheelchair to sit on that you can push inside would work as a solution and help them temporarily from the effects of their height affliction.
