Hello!

I am not techy at all, I am not unfamiliar with technology but  I am confused. I bought the equipment (i hope) that I need to use to sing live. Hooking it all up and getting it to work in SL has me stumped, not sure how to start. I purchased samcast (not cheap) I have head phones (do I need speakers?) I have a reverb box, mic and a few other toys. Some say to download music on your phone? How does that get into SL? I have a laptop and a PC which combination is better? How do I link the set up? Halp! XD

With no live streaming background, but just general guessing... you should be looking up guides for two main quests.

1) The basic: How to connect your equipment to your computer (either laptop or desktop) and setup SAMcast to record your mic and any potential secondary audio source for playbacks / music in general?

2) The specific: How to stream it to a webhost, where listeners can chime in? That webhost is you media URL which you share inworld.

General thoughts:

Headphones are your best bet, as speakers will just create annoying feedback sounds. Plus if you have a feature to monitor yourself in realtime - some mics do support that when you plug in your headphone.

No idea what a reverb box does or what other sound toys you got. In theory, you'd be fine with a nice mic and headphones and perhaps an audio interface to be able to adjust your sounds easily.

Tutorials on how to get started with streaming on YouTube, Twitch and such might also help you, minus the video part. Or Podcasts, of course.

Perhaps start with simply recording yourself to get the general hang, then focus on the streaming part.

Since you wish to live stream, you will quite likely want to be inworld at the same time, so try if either laptop or desktop can handle both tasks at the same time or if you're better off with splitting tasks between the two machines.

Last, but not least: a good, stable upstream net connection.

Podcasts tutorials were too obvious to think of...
