I don't understand this. Some would prefer SL sexual activity to be removed. But yet we all have RL sex. Why deny that sexuality is a part of life???

Than there are those that have chosen celibacy for one reason or another, typically religious, but not always.  I'm not so sure I'd classify them as "weirdos" either.

I'm sorry. I meant no offence. I respect everyone. I do have issues with religious celibacy though. In Catholicism it is mostly based on trying to prevent control by external parties of a priest  by threatening their families (when the church had power). At least that is what a priest once told me anyways. It's not my opinion.

And it seems to break the statement: "Go forth and multiply". So it sounds hypocritical to me. And no, I'm not religious.

It has been my experience that SL has all types of people using it who have a range of differing viewpoints on adult content/behaviours that stretch from end-to-end on any spectrum you care to define.  I think if generally you are finding overt prudishness then it is because you happen to have found just a tiny pocket of the population with these views.

Don't get me wrong, there are a large number of people in SL who don't come here to meet people for virtual sex or engage in it at all.  However, it doesn't necessarily follow that all of these people think that SL sex is bad or should be removed.

On a platform that thrives on user content, it isn't really practical to ban something like this anyway.  Policies can be made but would undoubtedly be disregarded by many.  Technical measures would also fail.  Even the definition of adult content cannot be agreed on by all.

Tbf it's a lot less black and white than this. I know I, for one, roll my eyes at the sheer percentage of SL used just for adult activities at times because it feels impossible to meet anyone. I pretty much never leave my home anymore because of this, and when I've made posts regarding it before the answer is typically always to look for places or groups based around interests; that's pretty hard when every one of them (that actually has activity) is A rated and full of people either afk dancing or afk screwing. 😕

some might like it to get removed, but i think a majority of the ones in that "group" would like it to be less slapped in the face everywhere.

yes the advice and the results often don't match up

is the same in RL as well.  There can be a park full of people but we don't just randomly walk up to them and start making out like besties. Same in the mall. Sometimes we might get into a conversation but usually not, at least with randomly met people

so we basically do in SL what we do in RL.  Look for social venues where striking up conversations with random people on a get to know you basis, is an accepted norm, which for adults in SL is pretty much restricted to the same social venues as in RL. Clubs and bars

The difference, however, is that irl social venues aren't full of people jumping each others' bones right there on the main entryway table and it's not really an "accepted norm" irl to walk up to someone with your junk hanging out and asking to bang them.

That's what you get in clubs and bars on SL in a lot of cases, especially in a lot of niche places like furry hotspots. 😕 I've pretty much given up because every place with activity is full of afkers or people who just want to hook up and little to no socializing from what I've seen, and I've been on SL for years. The places that don't have a ton of adult activity plastered all over? Those places are either empty or sandboxes where people want to do their own thing or hide away and put an avi together instead of talk and hang out.

i was more thinking about SL places like Muddy's, Wildcats, Blarney Stone, Junkyard Blues, etc and pretty much all of the live performer venues. Places that people go to socialise with their clothes on

other avenues for conversing with random people are the large open product groups like FabFree and SL Frees & Offers.  People are always in the group chat talking about all kinds of things, which when we know something about a topic raised, can lead to IMs and teleport offers to meet up. Which is quite useful as the chat and teleport is about something each person already has in common

Never been to any of those but I might check them out.

I'm more just talking about venues that cater to more niche interests, as not every human-centric place is chill with nonhuman avatars despite the entire point of SL unfortunately, and I've seen my fair share of both furry and game/anime related sims having way more nsfw content than I'd like to the point where every time my bf and I try to go somewhere, we just get discouraged and give up within minutes lol.

Either way, my point still stands in regards to op's question. A lot of SL is hardcore geared toward adult activities and not everyone wants dongs waggled in their faces all the time, so I absolutely get why people don't really jive with just HOW much more... everywhere adult content is vs other types of content.

if you and your bf are furries then can try the community on Luskwood region which is the oldest furry home community in SL.  I haven't been there myself since ages but am pretty sure that Frogg Marlowe and Jaycatt Nico still perform their live music act there, which always gets an attendance when they perform

See, I've gotten that answer so many times but I've been to Luskwood on about six different occasions and every single time it either has only a single digit amount of people who are afk, or it's totally empty. We've hung around there for about half an hour once trying to talk to the small amount of people who were there and no dice, so we gave up. x_x  That's what I mean by it feeling like all of the active sims are flooded w/ adult content so you've gotta either deal with it or stay home in a lot of cases. Maybe we've just been going at the wrong times? I'll look into it again sometime though.

Some want no sex in SL

Some want no kids in SL

Some want no furries in SL

Some want no fees in SL

Some want <insert topic here> in SL

People are people - some want one thing whilst others want something else. None of them are wrong to want what they want but at the same time none of them are right to assume that is how it should be for everyone.

they are weird not because they like sex activities or not, it is because they want to forbid others to do it. There many activities in sl i  like and many i don't. I don't want those i don't like forbiden. I just chose to do something else.

Hi lilith,

I wrote an article about this some time ago.
https://slamedia.de/second-life-sex

You might find that inetersting. It is also about percentages of sex regions compared to grid / privat estates / mainland
There is a simple trick how you can leave your house again and explore, without getting esposed to sex. Simply change in your viewer the options of search to G rated only.

Done.

Oh, and Franks Jazz place has reopened. G rated ballroom place with cool music.

Except the part where places with more of a "niche" interest (when I'd honestly like to try to connect moreso with people interested in similar things) are few and far between, or totally empty/deserted, in G rated regions... There's a whopping 1 G rated area that's furry based with actual people in it right now, for example, and that's only 6. Say that doesn't work out, then... Nothing. :s

Like, I don't mind M and A rated regions at all. I don't mind the nsfw stuff at all either, I just find it super disheartening that it feels like they're the only active places and people don't talk to you much outside of trying to hit on you.

The existance of people either chosing celibacy or being asexual does not negate the fact, that sex is part of life. None of us would be here, if it wasn't for people having sex. Just because something isn't part of someones personal life, doesn't mean that thing can't be considered part of life in a general way.

Being fat is also part of being life, but very few people have an avatar that resembles their real life body shape and size.

In Second Life, the ones having da sex in real life (ie me) just don't see the need to come into Second Life for this particular activity, although I personally would NOT prefer SL sexual activity to be removed.  I'm no prude, although because I don't participate in anything sexual in Second Life, "friends" have tried to "convert" me to the "joys" of cyber sex!!! (sound of me hitting my head on the table).
