I'm working on an object in Blender (3D view, solid) and some faces of a perfect flat plane show a darker grey than the others. Moving a vertex sometimes fixes it, and I'd like to know what that means, and does it bring any disadvantage having such darker faces in the model?

Simplest cause is flipped normals on a surface with smooth faces. Select the dark face and do Mesh->Normals->Flip.

If that is it it, will cause problems. In world, faces are one-sided. The visible face is the one you can see the normal stick out of if you turn normal display on. If some are the wrong way round, they will be visible only from the wrong side.
