Why doesn't Viewer 2 let me log in?

I haven't been able to log in to SL with Viewer 2 in about 2 weeks. I have to use Restrained Love or Phoenix. Strangely, I prefer Viewer 2. Any idea what the problem could be? None of my friends are having this problem.

 

Login Failed.
DNS could not resolve the host name.
Please verify that you can connect to the www.secondlife.com
website. If you can, but still continue to receive this error,
please go to the support section and report this problem.

Hello Marisa. Give us some more details about the problem. Why you can't log in? You get a message? You can edit your post. More details always help for a better answer.

If you have a Mac:

There is a JIRA about this problem for Macs https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-25627

Here is a fix posted by Gio Solo that might help you:

I found a temporary solution for my Mac. Now I can use Second Life Viewer 2.6.3.

Basically I had to add the following additional DNS servers to my DNS settings in Network settings under System Preferences:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

If you have Windows or the above doesn`t fix your Mac

You can go back to viewer 2.6.2 here http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Supported_Viewers make sure you also switch off automatic updates in your preferences > setup, or it will just update you again
