cannot update, reinstall also fails

I was forced to update, and got the error that it cannot locate the file for version checker.  completely uninstalled, and attempted to reinstalled, and  it failed that too. got the error reading

Error opening File for writing:

C\:Programfiles\Secondlifeviwer\llplugin\dullahan_host.exe

 

the game cannot be played, or reinstalled.  Im running the latest Windows 10 version. and heard SL might not even be compatible.  Cannot  try Firestorm viewer either as the log in is not valid. please tell me there is a fix for this? I miss hanging with my friends on SL Also, running 64 bit OS so attempted to install the 64bit viewer.  to no avail.

k tried again installing to Programfiles(x86) now I`m getting

What you describe is rather common. The way to get around these problems is as follows:

1. Uninstall
2. RESTART PC
3. Install

Also, if you are on a 64-bit operating system, you will want to use a 64-bit viewer. Not to mention that if you are running a 32-bit version, you are probably running an ancient viewer which no longer has support for the latest in SL.

And if your login in Firestorm is incorrect, then you should double check your login credentials and reset them if need be.
