I tried to upgrade my account yesterday w a credit card and still nothing has happened. What should I do?

What do you mean nothing has happened?  You will not get your stipend until Tuesday.  Your $1000 will not come for 45 days.  You can select your little Linden home from your dashboard. 

Your profile will be updated to read PIOF.  Yay.

Unless you mean your credit card has not been processed?  If so, was it a 'gift card'?

Without being sure (like Storm) which is exactly your question, i guess that you tried to get account verification having "Payment info on file" in order to access Adult Content. Many users have problems with payments especially if someone doesn't live in U.S.  Depending of your country try to call at the following numbers:

Go to your dashboard and in the account section on the left look at Account History, this will tell you any US$ charges that you have paid & you will be able to see if there is both a debit for Premium membership and your payment for it. If they are both there then you can see on your Account Summary if it correctly says that your account type is Premium.

If the charge and payment are there but your account still says Basic you will need to contact support. You can try a free call to the Billing number, but you may need to create a ticket. https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/
