I've built an animation that is basically a person rowing/paddling a canoe.  I have the avatar sitting with his legs out in front (see picture) but when I upload him, I only have the choice of standing, flying, sitting or walking?  How can I upload this animation into the position I want him to be?

yes, I get a sitting animation.  How do I get the animation where my legs are layed out in front of me and not a sitting position?

Long long ago  -- like a decade -- an animator told me to ignore that box altogether and I have done that since then. So I suggest just using the STANDING default.    (note that the other upload choices are incorrect in my screenshot -- I didn't change anything from the default).

The PLACEMENT of your animation will be decided most often when you add the animation using AVsitter or a similar product (or a pose ball in old-school tech).   Where your animation is on DEFAULT when you upload will be determined by your file so you will want to move the height down from the starting pose which is of course standing.

Hi and thanks for all your reply's.  RL sort of got in the way but now I'm back.  I tried the default stand option as Chic advised and my avatar still did not sit as per my QAvimator.  I've included a picture of my QAvimator and I'm using Beta Version 0.1.5.1 (645) if that makes a difference?  As you can see my upload picture, I am using the default stand option and when I did upload it, my avatar is standing, not sitting.  I'm also using firestorm-releasex64 6.3.2.58052 if that makes a difference.  Any and all help to resolve this would really be appreciated?

ok, Maya was right "All involved joints need to have a minimum movement to them to be included, otherwise the uploader cleans up the animation and drops the least rotating joints ", one I made some minor adjustments to the knees and shins the seating corrected itself. thank-you, thank-you thank-you!

Agreed that all bones need to NOT BE ZERO or the underlying animation will "show through".  This even in the case of lower priority as there are default animations at lower levels.   IF you forget then the animation "below" yours will run along with yours. I don't see that as the problem here though. It could possibly  be the version.  This is what I have always used (up until maybe eight months ago when I started using Blender and Avastar (for SL).

I wondered why YOUR Qavimator looked so much different than the one I used. I saw several warnings about the new version so stuck with the old one.   So maybe a test with the older software might be useful.

Hi chic, thanks for all your help.  I used to build animation about 5 years ago and somewhere between then and now, my PC crashed and I lost the software.  What I found was the beta version.  I've never heard of Avastar (for SL), so I'm going to check that out today and see if the old version of QAvimator is still available.

Regards, Julie

EDIT:  I missed seeing a post so it looks like all is good now. Great. Meanwhile I will leave this for others in the future maybe.   ALSO, while I was looking at the screenshots I am questioning why you have the priority at 2 which is close to the lowest priority. That will conflict with most to "all" AO animations so someone would have to turn off their AO in order to use the animation. It may not even work then :D.   Most animations now are P4 with some folks using P3 still for a variety of reasons. That was never the PLAN of the Lindens of course but a necessity when folks making AOs started raising the priority of their poses.

***************************

I couldn't find the original version to download. One place had it listed but files missing and original Qavimator website is gone.  I can vouch for Avastar with Blender 2.79 for making Bento poses and animations. Avastar isn't free though. You need to export with the anim extention, not bvh (which I could never get to upload and then read from someone else that it is simply broken in Avastar).

Here is how it looks in Blender with Avastar.  This is a pose.  There WILL BE a learning curve though :D.  It might not be the "alpha - beta" software version issue at all but if you tried all the other hints here, I can't think of anything else.   You have plenty of choices in Blender - Avastar and can use sticks and IK etc as wanted and needed.  There are some VERY old tutorials on the Avastar site but they still work LOL.     Good luck.
