May 2018 and little old me...…..BelindaN burst onto the scene.

I use my MP shopping history a lot for various reasons, and because then I had no idea you could buy in world, I just took a trip down memory lane, and looked at what I bought on 3rd May 2018, day 3.

A couple of things are gone. The hair is now over L$300, and was L$1 then. My shoe obsession is obvious. My total spend on that day was well under L$300, but buying that Avi, at L$222 locked me in here for the long haul...………………………………………………..

Looking back over my 133 pages of MP shopping is a nostalgic trip!

The only thing I can remember from that far back that I got was, The Worlds Largest Flying Pancake.

Otherwise it would be the place I first lived on mainland.. it was where I let all my friends live that came into SL and any others that followed afterwards..

I even kept it there for them after I left and any others, just so they could have a place to start out and get their feet well on the ground..

Eventually one of them took over and kept it up for a year or so more..

Those were fun times and good memories when I was there..

I'm an Oldbie--from the days when we had XStreetSL and OnRez (I used the OnRez viewer for awhile). Which, both were purchased by LL, and consolidated into the Marketplace. I also decided to delete 90% of my system/pre-mesh stuff (between 2008 and 2013) just before BoM was announced. So unfortunately, I can't say for certain what the first thing I purchased was.

But back in 2008-2012, I was more into the clubbing side of SL and entered/won a lot of contests. So a majority of my SL income was from that, rarely ever put RL money into SL. I was walking away at the end of the day with around L$10K for very little effort--I usually split it with my RL/SL partner at the time, or some of it went to rent. So back then, it could've been alternative/goth from a few stores that have been nonexistent for a decade or more--such as "WRONG" (I know there is a store with that same name now, but it's not the original store) or "Rockers Wear". Maybe hair from "Magika", "Truth", or "ETD". If none of those, probably some Latex from Kaliwulf Kingdom. Who knows, maybe it could've been a skin from Redgrave Skins.

The farthest back I can go in the MP order history is to October 10, 2010, but I know for certain there were probably things I bought on OnRez or XStreetSL as well as in-world before that. I bought 27 items, split between five orders. The first order had five items.

  • [RevengE] Ruth Latex Catsuit = L$150
  • Red Striped Stockings & Gloves Set (neko, goth, vampire, witch) = L$25
  • {Demon cake} Like a Star Outfit ~New SLX Price~ = L149
  • [A&k] Easter Surprise = L$1
  • ::: Newwwwww!!! Leti's Tattoo MM902 :::  = L$200

I don't even remember that far back, but somewhere amongst them in the first couple of weeks was a skin from Signature (not sure if the same business or just coincidentally having the same name - the creator's name is different) and hair from Laqroki (now LAQ). I think the shades were from LAQ too. I loved that hair but the alpha issues on it were absolutely dreadful. And that skin, I kept it for about 5 years.

Oh! Don't have a picture, but I remember it very well!

It was a pair of thigh-high latex boots, you know, the kind of where you had to wear a lot of different parts because Mesh wasn't a thing yet.
They where 600L, I was a poor little newb back then so I camped a lot for it. I wore them maybe 3 times.

So, not much has changed, lol.

I was living in a condo on Noob Island, owned by a skin and shape store owner, so I think my first purchases must have been skin and shapes - oh and hair. I had this incredibly long colour-changing hair that if I think of even now, makes me think about Ian Gillan's lovely long soft hair. I mean, I never touched his hair or anything, but I was once close enough to do so.

I was directed to a noob trap mall from the welcome island.

I spent 2500L on a Beyoncé skin and shape. (It didn’t look anything like Beyoncé). It was little more than something done in the skin editor or really old. Even to my noob eyes, it didn’t look good.

I’ll always remember that because that was about all of the money I uploaded and I was super disappointed.

I tried to rock it though, it was the first snapshot I ever took on SL.

I can't find the Beyonce skin and shape, but I kept a photo of the Angelina Jolie one. I just happened to find it earlier today while going on a nostalgia trip. Looks nothing like Angelina, although I can see how they managed to do something with the lips and the eyes that were similar.

Like others have said, it is tough to remember that far back, back way before the days of Marketplace.

I have to assume it was something to do with my appearance. No doubt clothes or something. I believe one of the first items I bought was a brown dress by Zaara (and I only remember this, because it just popped into my head as me having written this before in some other thread ages ago! brains are weird). I still shop at Zaara! And there would have been Pulse skin, because that was the only skin I'd wear for eons. I originally bought a custom shape from the shape maker who worked with Pulse, and then I modified THAT. (And good grief, I just found a picture of this.) This was all done pretty quickly because I had help from a dear friend who is no longer with us.

I went back to the Mktplace and found my first purchase there... a tiny hamster avatar in Oct. 2010. :)

And this is how oblivious I am... until today I never knew that you could trace your Mktpl purchases through a link on the Mktpl header! Doh!

Yeah, the ad was similar. Really classy looking store. If I manage to remember to log on to my old account, I might upload the pic.

I ended up looking more Latina than like Beyoncé. The noob on boarding was rough back then. That’s why I always advocate for noobs now.

I can't imagine you ever looking less than lovely, Janet. You're one of the few people whose avatar is actually smiling in your profile photo too. (Marigold rarely smiles, although real life me is usually laughing out loud at something ridiculous - and I have the laughter lines to prove it :D ) .

The oldest product on my MP history is a lipstick from 2011. Like Sylvia, my history goes back way further than that with XStreet.

I'm pretty sure the first things I actually bought in SL were Xcite nips, followed by the Xcite hoo-ha.

One of my earliest memories in Second Life is of my downstairs neighbour where I rented a condo having a talking hoo-ha. It was very entertaining!

Oh jesus... First thing I got in SL was a free box of furry items and avatars along with a bunch of freebie dresses and outfits that were sculpted and had flexi prims,  i got those from Free Dove.

The first thing I ever BOUGHT was a Dnz (I think that's the shops initials) rabbit avatar and some hair from Magika that was modifiable... I was part of the envious vip group then and had some decent clothes.  (I still have and sometimes use the first AO i bought from Oracle.  It was called.. Little vixen or something at the time.)

Axe of the Leviathan.

This was my first purchase, and I still have it, God bless it.

I bought it because when I got my First Land on Refugio, a little hard-scrabble 512 on a rocky mountain coast, there was another resident there, an oldbie by the name of "Leviathan" who ran a TV business, who was determined to push me off that sim and take over my 512, and who griefed me mercilessly. I had no clue how to deal with griefing at first, and I had some remote notion from some vague idea of war games that if I bought a weapon that had that name in it, that somehow it might come in handy....

This all reminds me of how in the old days, you could arrange search results on XStreet to go from worst ratings to best. I used to find some hilarious stuff that way.

You can kind of do that on the MP.  You can sort by 'Rating High to Low' and then go to the last page and work your way backwards.

/me wanders off to give it a try and see what I find.

I am registered 5.Aug, but I do not save much from then. The oldest items I have is from Aug. 16 and 18.

It is lingerie ~J~ Calliope from Szentasha Salome.

The first snapshot and I had it as profile picture from Aug 18, 2007.

And animations bow/curtsy made by Virrginia Tombola from Caledon Oxbridge. I had a poofy dress with lots of prims and walked around and curtsied to everyone. Sad that it is lost.

I had camped to pay for the picture. It was easy to find camping chairs then. And the lingerie was a free under 30 days gift. Funny thing is that the store is still in Second Life, and still offer a gift to new residents. The store looks just the same. It is a walk back in time to what was expensive lingerie. It was one of the best freebies I got when I was new.

I had bought Lindens in October the same year and bought black pumps from Shiny Things, because it was impossible to find shoes without bling, Cape and bonnet from Neferia Abel, some jewelry from Skye Qi, an updo from Miriel and a skin I have lost. I used hazel eyes from Miriel at least 1 year, maybe 2.

The first Marketplace purchases is from July 2010. I have deleted all, but then comes Halloween decor, like the Big Red Barn in this picture:

"Big red barn" from Soap.co

Bought October 9 2010. So I have the pictures to remember this purchase by. I have always liked to set up home in SL.

I had deleted it, but I can have this redelivered from the Marketplace!

My first MP purchase was on 16 september 2010 : NanoGunk Wet Tee Shirt, for 250LS.

My first ever real purchase was inworld, the month after I rezzed in 2007: a tattoo.

I remember I was extremely disappointed when it turned out to be a box, that got stuck on my head. I felt scammed! A few weeks later I learned I had to unpack said box.

It was both fun and sad to look at the Marketplace. I found things I have lost or deleted, and got a redelivery. But also so many things I do not have and the store is gone. I can guess very accurate what a "titanium rapier" had to be, but other things I have no idea what it was, and I will never know.
