Social island 1 - and a few others - are restricted access and regular residents cannot return to them after you have left.  There are other ones you can go to -- ones with higher numbers.  Pull up the map and type in Social Island and you should get a list to choose from.

You can visit Social Islands 6-10, they are open to all residents.  All the Social Islands are identical.
