Does Second Life plan on doing any TV ads or merch

There’s few (perhaps no)virtual world’s that compare to SL. The interest is there, I just think that what the SL client requires from the user isn’t very common: a high tech system, great internet, etc.

Has there been any ideas to promote SL outside of online ads and even begin making/selling merchandise like pins or anything?

LL usually seems to 'channel' most to Social Media outlets that are MUCH less expensive. (and certainly find greater returns/results than from mass media)

Since most that are active there already have 'needed' hardware.

LL could make some graphic designs and fulfill orders through a print-on-demand website. No need to keep an inventory. I suppose they'd have to be careful about using resident created items though.

I don't think LL would do TV advertising. Too expensive.

Youtube? its really the new TV like Netflix right? ...my cable company has been begging me to add TV even offering a year free..I see LL ads on Youtube everyday plus they have expanded their YT Channel so in a way they might be advertising on TV

they can hardly cope the current return of old accounts and new because of the lock downs ... let's wait a bit with promo's.

Here's the problem. Marketing Second Life will be like marketing a game- because to the uninitiated, it looks exactly like a video game. 3D characters running around on your computer screen with other 3D characters. That's what what warcraft game is about too, isn't it junior?

But marketing it as a game will fail. There are a ton of games on the market that compare to SL (I've been building and scripting a new design in Space Engineers just recently), run better, look better, have less scams and theft, and offer gameplay features. How are they supposed to compete?
