On latest RC (541440) viewing notices in a group profile all the dates are the current local time and no icons indicating type of attachment  are shown. Reading one of the notices and clicking the "open attachment" button does give the attachment , but the message in nearby chat gave the owner giving you the attachment as a UUID and not their name. TP to a main channel region and the list will refresh and display correctly. Go back to the RC region and the list refreshes back to erroneous view.

Submitted a jira BUG-228688

This carried over from Server Channel 540369. See BUG-228562 Group Notice Timestamps don't report accurately Server Channel 540369

Are you saying that there are some sims I could teleport to where this would listing would sort properly with the attachments?

Since LL put the same Bug on both RC channels and now the Main Server channel, the answer is no.  There is no indication the next roll on Wed for the RC servers will fix this bug, as it has been classified as "minor", and has not yet been assigned.  This affects all businesses in SL that use Groups:  Events, Clubs and Store owners.  If every commercial group owner and club owner would file a ticket with LL, well after 5000 tickets, perhaps LL might upgrade the priority?  Nah ...

@Willow Wilder:  Of course it's a viewer bug!  If we didn't log in to SL the bug wouldn't happen!!  It's so sad to realise that after all these years and despite the importance that this sort of communication medium is  to those locked down  (for WHATEVER reason), LL simply cannot see the importance of an issue like this.

There are none so blind as those who WILL NOT see.

The issue made it to the Grid Status, though they seem to be suggesting it's a viewer bug, not a server bug.

Group Notice Timestamps Incorrect - Incident Report for Second Life

There's nothing in the RC Channel release notes to suggest a fix will be implemented this week.

Funny that after so many months using the same viewer this bug just came out of the blue... If it's a viewer bug, then most likely it's in LL's code all viewers use and caused by some simulator changes.

[EDIT] And it's a S E V E R E bug affecting everyone.

Yep. no fix in 541952 nor 541970. Gotta love the wording on that incident report. Lets hope they can at least roll out a fix onto one of the RC channels (whichever is slated for next week's Main channel roll) before the weekend, so we don't have to wait 2 weeks for Main channel to be fixed.

Investigating - We are aware of an issue with Group Notice timestamps showing the wrong date on some viewers. We've identified the issue and are working on a fix. Ref: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-228562
May 1217:16 PDT

Some Viewers?  The Bug shows in the latest LL Viewer, and Firestorm.  What viewers are not affected?  (Of course it's not the viewer, as the Status report wrongly implies...)

I'd be surprised if for once the GSP could be trusted...

I've also observed this bug for the past 3 weeks, and while it was limited to certain regions at first it now seems generic. As MBeatrix says above: this is a SEVERE bug for everyone relying on groups for a structured commercial and/or leisure experience in SL.

"Structured" - now there's the rub. My more cynical side can't help wondering if if there's method behind this bug. Just as Twitter in recent years has tucked its groups further and further down the links chain to keep more users perusing their spammy main timeline, is it conceivable that LL, too, would prefer us to explore SL more randomly instead of pinpointing selective events via our specialised groups? I'm probably way wrong about this, but yeah - it's fair to say, without my groups I'm effectively flying blind right now. Which, in my case (take note, LL) results in a much curtailed SL visit.

One final point: remember when, many moons ago, email forwarding of received IMs while offline began to go wonky? They tried to fix it, but somehow never managed. It seemed nothing but a minor nuisance, and simply meant we had to log into SL more often to check for received IMs. Until some of us started wondering about who'd benefit most from that... On the plus side, MP notifications never fail to reach my email.

Happy days, stay safe and think logically. o/

No @Fuzzbear.  From time to time I entertain thoughts of devious behaviour by LL but this would be far more machiavellian than even I am prepared to credit of LL!

That is just neither likley nor sensible as a tactic, and while LL may, from time to time appear to be corporately insensitive, they are NOT corporately stupid!

I have come to accept that their priorities and in no way aligned with my own!

My OP was when it was only on RC channels. Last week, LL deliberately chose to ignore this bug and roll out 541440 onto Main Channel - hence this bug is now grid-wide.

How long before they roll-out a fix for this remains to be seen. We await this week's roll-out plan to see if the RCs will have a fix or not.

My region has just rolled to 542403 and the group notice dates are back :)  Attachment icons are still missing and the open attachment message is still  screwed up :(

per Maestro: About 10% of the grid is on the 542403 RC right now; if you'd like to try the fix, these are a few example mainland regions on that version:

  • Davis Gulf
  •  Portage Bay
  •  Falmouth
  •  Chishonganiro
  •  Bay City - Rollers
  •  Bouraq
  •  Sandbox Island
  •  Shamwari
  •  Hiltrude
  •  West Haven
