I will update this topic once/if I get a feedback on the AR I've filed.

I see my post has bothered some people, however just to be clear AGAIN I wanted to gather opinions if I was perhaps exaggerating or not - and consequently the pictures were needed. Thank you for everybody who provided constructive comments. By the way, my understanding is that when you accept to live in a themed community, you have to abide by the theme. You can do whatever you want inside of your home, but not outside. I had a similar problem in a log cabin and decided to move.  Now again, same problem when a neighbor wants to impose a different theme. So in my opinion this is not a matter of taste, but a matter of being considerate with other people who also chose to live in that theme . But who knows, maybe I am wrong and everyone can do whatever they want wherever they want regardless of other people, right? Who cares, as long as they are happy, the rest is the rest. This is what I am reading in some comments in this thread.

If you are only coming here to judge me/my post, why don't you open your own topic about your discontentment with such topics. Then you can discuss it extensively and find a lot of people to throw rocks with.

At the end of the day I would hope that people try to use common sense when decorating.   This is one reason I use Firestorm so that I can derender things I don't want to look at.  I am not too bothered by what people do on their parcels as long as their stuff it isn't on mine.

I lived beside someone on a beach in a traditional house and they had a green prim for grass (to cover the sand)  and evergreens.  Just didn't bother me.  Now some would say it is out of theme cause you are turning beach into a forest, but I would say it was in theme as grass, trees, etc . , this is how they see their parcel.  So again, in theme or not in theme can be open to interpretation.    I find nothing wrong with ARing things that one might think is against the covenant.   Worse case LL thinks it's not and it stays.

I also think too that with the houseboats it is more obvious and right there in your face.  More so than in a TH or Vic.   The houseboats are way more open and close together so you just see it all.  It is sometimes hard to find a happy medium with the HB in regards to you and your neighbors.

Thank you for promising us feedback. Maybe I should start a thread.

I disagree with you in that you are judged and thrown rocks at. People are allowed to have different opinions, and some writes it short and blunt. For me who has been bullied as a child in real life and had real stones thrown at me, it is sad to see how people use the same words to describe forum posts.

You nailed it... "So again, in theme or not in theme can be open to interpretation".

Reason I was asking for some feedback to see different perspectives.

I do not want to be disrespectful, what I am suggesting is that if someone is unhappy with these topics showing up in the forum they should start their own thread by all means. I am new to the forum, but I can imagine I am not the first one to post something like this. If you do open it, would suggest you post the link here so we can all go there and give opinions on that topic.

I came here asking for feedback on a specific topic about a HB theme, not to be judged if such post is good/bad taste or trying to be a fashion police bullying other people. I think the real world is already full of drama and we do not need to make this forum another one.

Welcome to the forums, where judgment, drama, and overuse of the word "bully" are favorite pastimes. ;)

Since you are new to the forums, you wouldn’t have seen the thread from January about “those crazy neighbors.” I wanted to find the post where either a Linden or Mole states that it was not in good form to name and shame residents for their covenant violations or design choices. Of course, I couldn’t find the exact post I was thinking of. @Patch Linden eventually locked that one with an explanation. Maybe it needs to be reiterated here, since there’s been an influx of new residents.

I do not believe I have named and shamed any resident in any of my posts, but again I might be wrong. I had to post a picture so people could comment if something was in theme or not based on their perspective to help me deciding if I would file an AR or not, but I removed the pictures  the next day after I got the feedbacks.

Here is what Dakota Linden said on the topic:

Quote

If you wish to post screenshots to try to find out if something on a LH violates the covenant or other policies, then please continue to do so.  However, if this thread is going to be used strictly to call out others as a way to name and shame without using the parcel owners actual name, then this thread will be closed or removed, so we strongly encourage everyone not to do that.

I know your intent was of genuine inquiry. It’s easy for threads to get quickly out of hand. Thank you @Sylvia Tamalyn for citing the post I was thinking of.
