Protection against disturbing light

Is there a way to protect an appartment from disturbing light which comes from outside / neighbors?

Which viewer do you use?  In Firestorm, you can permanently derender/blacklist the item  I'm don't think the SL viewer lets you do that, and I haven't a clue about the other viewers.

ETA:  Have you talked to the neighbor and told them how bright the item is.  Some never see their SL in any sort of dim light and thus do not even realize when an item is full bright or glowing.
