how to extend chat range?

Is it possible to extend the chat range from 50m to 100m for a large building, like a cathedral?

Those in the rear miss out on the sermon texted up front!

This is an ideal example of where chat-listeners do actually serve a valid purpose. Have two prims, one at the front and one at the rear, the front one listens on channel 0 and sends what it hears on another channel, the second prim listens on that channel and  repeats it on channel 0 for those around it.

Alternatively, you could have just one object that's being worn by each person holding the sermon, and those objects send a message to any avatars that are beyond regular chat range, using llRegionSayTo on channel 0. This way there's no shouting but everyone can hear the important parts at any range within the sim.

The two-object method can have slight overlap, so people sitting in range of both objects would get two messages unless that's being handled somehow.

I like this one a lot. you can set multiple ones out and if any of them overlap, only the closest one to the avatar will repeat it. i've modified it slightly so that it won't repeat to anyone that's not within 20m of any of the relays, and won't repeat to anyone that's within 20m of the avatar speaking
