Why does that not impress you, Luna?  It did me and especially because there is a new strain, the U.K. variant is pretty much thoroughly here in the U.S, and is thought to spread quicker.  I mean don't people care?  However, I feel this thread is dead.  It just keeps going around and around and is getting no where.

This Could Become the Next Major Superspreader Event, Experts Warn

In the lead up to the Super Bowl, the nation's top health officials, including Anthony Fauci, MD, were warning that small indoor watch parties could lead to a spike in COVID cases. And while living room get-togethers could end up putting a dent in the current downward trend of infections in the U.S., there's now concern that the biggest gathering of all could have dire consequences. Local officials are concerned that public Super Bowl celebrations in Tampa—where the home team, the Buccaneers, beat the Kansas City Chiefs—could become the next major COVID superspreader event. Read on to see why this could cause major problems for Florida and beyond

It didn't impress me because it was just another "seeeee....your side is bad tooo" post from Lil, with some silly slam for non-traditional looking people supposedly being liberals.  Guess she didn't see these nutjob alt-right peeps storming the capitol, our very own GOP shaman and QAnon lady liberty:

Yeah but why blame only Republicans?  I live in a very diverse building of all colors and religions including Middle Easterners.  Arabs and Jews live here together, and my building is so diverse that there are all different kinds of beliefs about COVID but honestly have nothing to do with Trump or Republicans or Biden nor even our own state Governor, Governor Newsom.   It has more to do with them personally plus what information they are all getting as I don't know which person is watching what news channel for example and there are all kinds of news channels and even news channels in just about every foreign language here.  Generally, what I see and hear from many who live here is just confusion more than anything but it doesn't have anything to do with any political party.

LMAO, that had nothing to do with the pic @LittleMe Jewell posted that you responded to. That pic had nothing to do with "non-traditional looking people supposedly being liberals" but, specifically to do with the Super Bowl and how no matter what political divide you are on, no one is following the rules at large gatherings. How can you not understand that?

It is also what my posts have been trying to get through to you. COVID, the response, the outcome, the whatever has NOTHING to do with politics or what side of politics you are on. Nor racism none of that. It comes down to all citizens following guidelines of which the majority of American citizens haven't and still don't.

As far as why she posted that pic, whilst I don't want to speak for her, I would assume it was in response to you going on about trump and conservative being the only ones not complying. Whilst you may not have said it directly, you certainly implied it with such comments in your post like this:

On 2/5/2021 at 3:02 AM, Luna Bliss said:

I live in the Bible Belt too, and among conservatives. I see a lot of them not complying with mask recommendations, including the majority of the 6 service people who dealt with my water heater problems.

Not everything is about capitol hill riots against BLM protests or political persuasions. Not every pic someone posts is about trying to prove one side is this or that. Geez you have a real chip on your shoulder about all of that.

How on earth you got from the pic from LittleMe Jewell to posting about the capital hill riot idiots is beyond me.

This thread is about COVID venting. If you want to go talk about the capitol riot or some rant on the republican party turning autocratic start a new thread. We don't want another thread locked due to certain individuals, you being one, bringing in things that are irrelevant. All you come across as is a troll using known taboo topics looking to rub people the wrong way to get a response.

That said and knowing this thread is following previous similar threads. In before lock or should I say I am out before lock.🙄

I'd totally have taken a ride with the guy on the horse at the end.

I guess I impress easily?

I'd knock him off and keep going.. Those are beautiful horses..

My father did some work for a man that had a couple shipped over from, I want to say Germany maybe.. 20k just to ship them..

He was restoring a cabin that  had to be at the very least 150 years old, in this huge valley surrounded by mountains..

Seeing those two beautiful black as I ever seen horses and all the room to themselves.. He wouldn't let anyone go to them.. He said if they come to you  you can touch them.. He just didn't want anyone approaching them unless they were workjing with them..

I would love to work with them horses..

I got them to come over to me.. They are even more beautiful up close.. They could have made a movie right in that spot.. It was so closed off to the rest of the world and so wide open with patches of forest and the grass was so green.. It didn't even feel like we were in Tennessee anymore..

There is far more diversity of thought amoungst Republicans than Democrats. True there is that faction amoung Republicans that seem to think Trump is incapable of error, but then you have tje never Trumpers as well. It is the Democrats who all are in lock step chanting the party line.

Oh I fully acknowledge there are plenty of dumb Republicans (outside of the Repub nutjobs actually running the government) who have no clue that the party itself has turned into an autocratic party. If you're interested, here is a Repub I'm admiring greatly of late, Liz Cheney, who is trying to bring her party back to what it used to be, and has been censured for it by her party. In addition to her comments, if you scroll down to the video you can see what she's up against via the QAnon congresswoman, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is actually saying in the clip that the party is still Trump's party. More power to Liz Cheney to bring the party back to sanity!

Honestly, I didn't even really ever notice the guy and what he looked like  as many times as I seen that video, until Scylla said something about him..  I'll take a good horse like that over a hot looking man any day of the week.. The odds are the relationship will last longer.. Because a beautiful horse doesn't know it's beautiful.

Because, as I've alluded to before:  In some people's eyes ALL REPULICANS ARE BAD, whereas ALL DEMOCRATS ARE GOOD.

Anything that does not fit that narrative cannot even be considered.

While there does appear to be more conservatives than liberals running around mask-less at huge gatherings, that does not mean that only liberals care about reigning in COVID.  That is just the view that some prefer to take because it continues to push their story that ALL REPULICANS ARE BAD, whereas ALL DEMOCRATS ARE GOOD.

I don't believe ALL Republicans were responsible for the spread of Covid due to dissing masks.
I don't believe there were NO Democrats who dissed masks.
I've said there were MORE Republicans compared to Democrats who dissed masks.

I'm not a Democrat, nor am I a Republican, and I find fault with both parties on many issues...so I am not pushing a narrative -- your accusation has no merit.

Well, it seemed a bit one-sided to me.  But, it's neither here nor there.  A lot of Americans have had problems from lockdowns to masks to people in my building complaining that only one can ride in the elevator at a time and how stupid that is.  I just comply with what the signs say now.  But, even after my vaccination, I'm going to go shopping with a mask and gloves for awhile.

You don't think a "seee...seee...there's obviously liberal people in there not wearing masks because look how they're dressed, here we have proof it's not always a Republican problem" is not a partisan jab? But MY response to her partisan attack is what makes it one-sided?  Put on your thinking cap, Fairre.

There is a context here...many exchanges Lil and I have had where she attempts to make false equivalencies between the two sides regarding mask compliance. She is obsessed with pointing out the fact that Democrats are at fault too for not wearing masks, and that Republicans are not all to blame for non-compliance. We already know that...what would be the point of repeatedly pointing it out if not to give your side validity...in other words, to make it a partisan issue.

Lil, the partisanship you accuse others of is exactly what you did when you voted along partisan lines for Trump, even though there was ample evidence he's a narcissist, obsessed with power over democracy, a misogynist, and could bring only ruin to the nation.  No doubt you feel guilty and bad about this.

I advise you to feel the pain of your choice, get over it, and move on. You're not going to move on if you continue to blame others for what your choices enabled (this freaking mess we are now in where the Republican party tried to overthrow democracy and the trial to impeach Trump now beginning). Continuing to be offended that others are telling you the Republican party is one big mess atm and should be held accountable for it, obsessed with pointing out that you're not "all bad" by working hard to find fault with the other side, won't get you anywhere.

Reminds me of Cades Cove. I have some 35mm shots of it still from back in the early 90s. If I ever get around to scanning them I'll share them with you.

Ever since visiting the Cove, I've always wished I had the money to buy it so I could live there.

But.

It's a national park and I don't want to "begrudge" others the beauty and tranquility of the place.

https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/cadescove.htm

If you haven't been and can ever get there, go! It is more than worth the visit, especially if you can go during the off season (late fall through early spring).

Edit: We were there during the winter right after Christmas in 92, then again in April of 93.

In the few cases where someone has pointed out that the Dem's were not always so good at masking, it was always, without exception, to you going on and on about Conservatives being so intentionally bad at it.

It really is quite remarkable seeing your post:

in that I have never seen ONE post of yours using the idea that there were MORE Republicans than Democrats dissing masks. Is this you with a bad memory or attempting to gaslight the rest of us with what you have or have not stated in past?

Since you are not a member of either of those parties, how do you feel about the Dictatorial Jo Biden signing in all those executive orders? He has even been quoted as saying during the campaign that any President that relied on Executive orders to enforce their will is a dictator so that by his own words, he condemns himself as being one. What is your stance on that from your socialistic position?

Ps- looking forward to you sharing the "many faults" you find about the Democratic party since we have thread's full already of what you issues you had with the Republican one.

I love the smokey's, Especially in the morning..

When you are up in the mountains in the morning and in a spot where you can see for miles, It's easy to see why they are called The Smokey's..

The tops of the mountains look like Islands for miles in an ocean of dense clouds.. It looks like something right out of a fantasy world..

Then when you are down below and looking up, the clouds can fool you into thinking you are seeing the tops of the mountains, until you look a little higher and see it was just the clouds showing the halfway point.. I love when the mountains used to fool me like that when I first seen them..

I love those kinds of surprises of feeling like an ant to natures awesomeness..

I really want to complain about all the stupid people who are traveling and complaining about things like flight cancelations and mandated testing and quarantines, as well as all the stupid businesses who are opening during lockdowns and then complain when they are fined, charged, or served. It's just tiring at this point. It's not May or June anymore. Locally, we've been in lockdown for 3 months now, so it's not like this is a surprise to anyone. It's just people being lazy divas.
