Sure.  Particularly if it isn't wandering in such a way that it collides with things.

I have some neighbors on the pickle who are rarely in and leave their (rather old) dog bumbling around inside their house, a physics nightmare, whining and yapping constantly.  Oh yes, I muted it, but I still call it Blargh the Lag Dog.

Some wanderers can be put to 'sleep'. Then when you return you can touch it and enjoy it greeting you and being lively.

I just got my new log home and the area looks perfect for riding.  Am I allowed to keep a horse on my property (not a breedable)?

yes of course, also breedable is allowed, except for limitations set by the covenant, as encroaching. Any other things might be not nice to neighbours, but not violating rules.

Also, breedables are sometimes raised for resale.  That is commercial activity, forbidden by covenant.

I suppose one benefit of having breedables is that older avatars such as myself, particularly scripters, will tend to abandon any parcel near one that has breedables.  Most especially true for breedables that have hovertext.  So you're kinda guaranteed to have more than usual fresh faces around you ;)

can be, but that wasn't the question. It is allowed to have on the parcel, or even in the bedroom, as long it's not violating the rules.
You take it like there's a whole farm next to you, there's nothing wrong with having a couple of breedble horses in the backyard. You perhaps, pure hypothetical, wear all jewelry or clothes with hundreds of 1024 textures.. give me two breedabes instead of that.

Try ARing it with details about why.

I've have some moving animals on my plot also, but I believe they're set to phantom - if so will they still be causing this kind of lag? (Should I remove them?)

All the way back i 2009 or 2010 - A friend and I did manage to get a linden to delete someone's build because of physics issues. They had a car that was set to repeatedly explode - blasting it's parts around as physical objects, then reset and do it again... multiple times per minute. But that was a different era in SL and that user had also not logged in for 5-6 years...

Lmao and that car was still here blasting all those years... That awful.

Phantom objects do not collide, so are no problem :)

As for an AR, the dog's a visible hit to the physics performance, but it's not bad enough for me to rile a neighbor.  If I see them inworld sometime, I may ask if they have a way to put rover to sleep while they're gone.

Late to this thread, but this sparked a question since I'm not a scripter and not really up on all the various things that can cause issues.  What is the deal with hovertext?  Is it just the fact that there is hovertext or the fact that for the breedables, the hovertext is changing quite frequently?

Curious because I have a few kitties that I let run around and I keep their name displayed in the text, but not the other stuff that can be shown.

Oh!  No, it's not a lag thing, it's just a visual like/don't like thing.  Hovertext tends to be ultra-visible, you can see it from really far away, and of course it looks unnatural.   Like name tags on avatars, it can be difficult to tell from a distance what object HAS the hovertext.  I don't think it contributes to lag at all.

I just use it for things like signs in my buildbox (when I've rezzed a bunch of groups of things).
