Music Playing Suddenly - Not The Parcel Stream

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced music playing suddenly and it is not the media stream for that parcel. It has happened to me several times over the past month or so. It appears suddenly and there is no volume control. Sometimes I can stop by tp'ing to another sim but usually I have to log out. I can't see any known SL bugs and I have also scanned my iMac drives with my anti-virus software. If you have experienced this and/or know of a fix please post.

That sounds like rogue MOP players.

Switch off Media auto play in your preferences and you should be fine

Or even better, unless you actually use MOP for something yourself, disable it completely. The whole thng is a classic example how poor implementation can ruin a good idea and usually it's more of a nuisance than a useful feature.

This is the preference panel on FS. I did uncheck allow media to auto-play. Thanks, will see if that works

Also may be an Avi.  I have been to some events where out of the blue some gangsta rap starts, then stops after a moment. I then notice it start again when an avi starts to walk then stop when she does.. rather annoying.

Could be someone on an illegal tpv using a "bounding sound" attack.

Firestorm's Sound Explorer can show you if an avatar or an object triggered the sound and its "owner".
