You can actually get a 90 day free trial of any Affinity product right now and they're all half price until end of April ( I think.) I can't answer your question though as I've only just started the free trial myself.

Affinity Photo should be familiar to PS users, though not quite as capable. The UI is similar, as is the way the various tools work. I switched from PS CS6 when Adobe went to a subscription sales model. I'm a Mac user and use both Pixelmator Pro and Affinity Photo. Which I use depends on what I'm doing. For multi-layer work, or to continue work on complex old CS6 projects, I use Affinity Photo. For quick hit-and-run edits and composites, I use Pixelmator Pro.
