How to use sky boxes if you have no land ?

You can rent a skybox either furnished or unfurnished but to rez your own skybox itself you have to have land.

If you want to just rez a skybox that perhaps someone made and gave to you, you need to go to a sandbox to rez it.  Do you know what a sandbox is?

If you own the skybox and want to have it rezzed long term you need land big enough to accommodate it either owned or rented. for short term you can use a sandbox if you type Sandbox in to the map a whole list will come up some will only be open to premium members but one like Sandbox Cordova is open to everyone they tend to have a 3-4 hour sometimes longer auto-return time

You don't.

The only thing that makes a skybox different from any other building, is its design. Its designed to be a closed off structure, that wouldn't look good on the ground. But thats about it. It still takes up ressources and still requires the person placing it to have the rights to rezz something. Therefore you need land for a skybox just as you would for a normal house. If you own land, you own all the air above it too.

One thing about a skybox is you don't need land that looks good on the ground. You can get a parcel with barren rocks, a steep mountain, badly designed houses nearby, etc. Sometimes these parcels are sold or rented at a lower price because of this.

But, of course, to buy a parcel, however cheap and horrible, you need to be Premium.  So usually renting one is the easiest thing.

Rez it in a sandbox. Z position it anywhere up to 4000m in the air. Sit on a prim. Z the prim to your skybox height. Voila. You got til sandbox return time, usually 3 to 8 hours

Anna's partly right, but those aren't your only choices.  Many mainland landlords or private estate owners will rent you a vacant land parcel where you may place your own house...or rez your skybox up in the air.  The bottom line is Garnet's reply...you have to have land, either owned or rented.

You'll be able to live in a skybox for up to 7 days at a time.

Step 1. Rez a skybox.

Step 2. Rez a chair.

Step 3. Link chair to skybox.

Step 4. Sit on chair.

Don't stand up. As long as you remain seated, the object won't be auto-returned. You'll be able to enjoy your skybox until next Tuesday, when the rolling restarts will log you off.

Even better, log an alt in with a text viewer, and make the alt sit in the chair. Then you can still go and enjoy the rest of SL.

The easiest way is to find a friend with a sim and some ‘spare prims’...I know because when we had sims, yep, I got asked! Unfortunately I said no for residences and only yes to interesting art projects, and limited the duration.

Sneaky way: find an overlooked rez zone, rez a platform, send it to 2000 feet. Rez a skybox up there, rez the furnishings, place them, link them all up to the skybox, re-adjust your furniture sits for your main av and save. Take a copy into inventory.

Alpha an alt (or dress them nicely if you like them to show), Sit them in a seat and then attach additional decor to their avatar center, pre-linking even more things to save LI, arrange the decor, then Save as an outfit. If you are a heavy decorator who loves their tchotchkes, you might use 2 alts...

once a week as @Arduenn Schwartzman said, the restart comes...and you’ll have to place the skybox again, re-sit the alt(s) wearing the decor.

or you could, you know... just rent a parcel.
