Recently I had someone offer to pay my gallery rent for me. To do this he has asked me to add him to the tenant list. I am wondering however what else this would allow him to do besides pay rent. Would he be able to add or take away items in the gallery's? The whole thing is sending me red flags.

As far as I know, the only thing it would do is send him notices when rent is due and, I assume, allow him access to other features on the rent box (the same access that you have).

There is no change made to ownership or permissions on the items inside the gallery if you are just adding him to the rent box.

If "adding him to the tenant list" means the land group, then yes, he would be able to rez and return items, as well as run scripts etc. To some extent you can limit what he can do by limiting the privileges of the "Everyone" role, but he would at least be able to rez.

If it just means adding him to the rentbox, he will only be able to pay the rent and receive alerts if it goes overdue.

I would still be cautious though. In the same situation, I would set out a tip jar and suggest he pays into that instead. If he refuses, he has motives other than simply funding your gallery.
