Hello all.

On my travels I have met quite a few animals and monster avatars. My favourite was a Victorian mole.

Does creating such avatars work in the same way as it did when I created myself, IE, a body with the most content available and customisation options? I really like the idea of either a Victorian fox, badger, or rat.

Any advice on achieving this metamorphosis would be very welcome, especially landmarks so I can visit the sores :)

Plus on a side note: At the home and garden exhibition, there where a number of what at first I thought where other people but turned out to be a sort of animated npc. Is it possible to have something like this in my home, a butler or house keeper would be amazing :)

Depending on how far you want to go, you could just start with fox head, ears and a tail to wear with your normal body.  I have not been a furry for some 13 years or more so I am not sure what all is available.  Hopefully someone with more recent knowledge will be able to help you out.

You can search the Market Place for "Animesh Maid" and see what you like.  Some wander around more than others and of course quality can be hit and miss.  They also are notorious for having a fair bit of Land Impact.

Did you spend an hour chatting them up like I did?  😖

I suppose you prefer to be biggie size rather than a Tiny?

The Historical Hunts group might be a good one to ask in inworld. It's always been friendly to both tinies and Victorians, and just friendly all around.

Caledon and Mieville groups too. Mieville has a big over lap with HH.

Many thanks :)

Im very open minded, I have not considered size, but I have as long as I can wear lots of outfits any size would be considered :)

Not at all what I was expecting in the way of a housekeeper when I searched the animesh maid lol

I was thinking more like this pictograph.. or, if this one were automated https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/C-Animesh-Follower-Elizabeth-Wear/17508326

With the human-size furniture you've put together so painstakingly I wouldn't really recommend being a Tiny.  They can't always sit on human chairs, and in any case you might not be able to see the top of your table. :)

How tiny does tiny go? Could I for instance live inside the terrarium in my home?

Im sure that would be rather a mind-bending experience!

A Tiny couldn't.  A Titchy might just get in but would be uncomfortable.  A Petite should fit in well, though it's years since I used mine, and I'm not sure if they're supported any more.

p.s. I paid a visit to your house (just standing on the street outside as I don't enter homes without an invitation) and I noticed you have two little machines making noises, possibly from obstructing each other's way.

Thank you. You are very welcome to enter and have a look around :) Im about to log back in myself so will be home soon :)

You might contact @BelindaN (she's the one on the left). She's not quite so old, but she's competent, comes with references, and most importantly, does windows!

Maybe she would be if you pay her enough? 😉

(Keep her out of the manservant's quarters, though: she wreaks havoc there.)

(@VonWulfen -- I'm playing with you; sorry! Belinda is a person, not an animesh NPC. She just posed for the pic for me!)

Aha, I am so gullible :) I was about to ask where I might purchase her :)

There are basically three ways to have a furry avatar. The first way is to buy an entire all-in-one avatar. This is the easiest way but is often expensive (can be free, or up to L$3000 depending on quality) and is the least optimal for customisation and wearing your clothing of choice. An example here are the Jomo avatars, which look absolutely lovely, but have literally one outfit each that fits. Some of the more old-fashioned full furry avatars, such as those sold at Luskwood, use the classic body as a base; it's easier to find clothing for those, but they look out-dated and as you've already bought a mesh body, you'll probably want to go with the next option.

The second way is a bit more complicated and involves buying all the components for it separately, much as you would with a human avatar. The main advantage with doing it this way, is you will be able to use the body you've already got as the base, so you can continue using the clothes you've already bought; you'll need a furry skin that works with it (either Omega or Bakes on Mesh), a furry head, and separate parts such as tail and feet. Often these come in a "mod kit", which is the middle-ground in terms of ease-of-use. The kit will supply the skin, and a skin texture for the head, but the head and feet won't be included. But it will tell you which head and feet you need, to make it work. Tails are usually included but if not, there are plenty available and they are usually pretty easy to match up to any skin. Making a furry avatar this way will cost somewhere between L$500 and L$1500.

As for your choice of animals, fox avatars are very widely available and you'll not have any problem at all making a fox. Rats are uncommon but still you'll have some choices; there's at least one rodent mesh head and a few mod kits on the marketplace. Badger would be the most difficult but I did find exactly one badger kit that would work with your body; https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/o0-RD-0o-European-Badger-Mod-V2/16214222 This kit includes a skin which will work on your own mesh body either with Omega appliers or bakes-on-mesh, it has a texture for a head that you'd buy separately. The skin in the pic looks like it may be female but since it's not specified, I suspect that the kit either includes both, or the skin is unisex. There is very little difference, with furry skins. Ears and tail are included (but I never saw a badger with a tail like that). Feet aren't included at all, but I believe you got a Signature Gianni body, in which case the feet you need are these: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Catseye-Digi-Paws/9737216. This store also does matching hand-paws if you want them.

There's a third way, and that involves making all the textures from scratch, but you're probably not ready for that yet.

Note that if you wear furry feet, normal human trousers won't fit. There are "furry" trousers available that are made to fit digitigrade feet.

One last thing you will need (and which is never mentioned in mod kit instructions), to make your furry head fit your Gianni body properly, is a neck extender. This is because mesh human bodies only have half a neck; the top half would be part of the normal human head. But furry heads don't have any neck at all, they just perch on the top. So you will also need this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Apricot-Paws-SLUV-Neck-Fix-Freebie/14958878

So many thanks for such a detailed explanation, very much appreciated :)

I see there is a lot more to this metamorphosis than I first thought.

I am in no rush though, there are so many options available it deserves a lot of research :)

This is very wise. I would suggest hanging out at Luskwood or some of the other furry hangouts (be careful, some of them are rather adult, and it's best to avoid the ones that include the word "yiff" in their name), and ask some of the people for advice. Look for people with avatars of the animals you're looking for and ask them how they made it; most furries are keen modders and happy to offer help and advice.

I am particularly drawn to this as my alter ego. It would be perfect as my 'Mr Hyde' dark side :)
