bigmoe Whitfield
This is driving me nuts and has for years, I want to see if their is a darn work around, I start a viewer and it will steal all focus of everything and make it priority after it starts, like I click the icon, it starts, I bring up firefox browsing things when it's starting and it steals focus right then and there, meaning I have to switch back to what I was looking at or watching, I am starting to feel this is rude and I would like to figure out some possible way of making it stop happening. Fritigern Gothly
Start FF first, wait until it's done, then start your viewer

Are you... seriously complaining that an application that you start on purpose is... doing what its supposed to do and goes into the foreground? I mean... don't get me wrong, i know what you want but just think about it for a moment that way. There's no way to start apps in the background.
Profaitchikenz Haiku
Assuming the OP is on Windows, this is an annoyance, and I've found lately it's getting even stranger. I usually have the task manager open so I can keep an eye on RAM use, and when I start a viewer by clicking on the icon, I get the opposite to the OP's complaint, the task manager refuses to give the focus to the application I've just started. The only workaround I've come up with is to minimise everything to the taskbar and bring up things as I want them. In case it helps the OP, I've noticed the chats and IMs coming in will give focus to the viewer when there are several windows open at once, so perhaps this is a cause? I've never seen the Viewer getting focus, the taskbar icon will flash (given you enabled chat notifications to at least "Flash") however and with a vertical taskbar on the left side its super annoying having the taskbar slide out over a chunk of my local chat or typed text.... With Windows as OS: We have our web browser open and read say Forums, start a SL viewer, use Alt+Tab to focus back to the web browser - when things fire up in the viewer after a while, it puts it self in top of all programs and takes focus. This behavior is not expected by normal windowed programs but normal for full screen games. Edited March 5, 2020 by Rachel1206

I've seen some games do this with a bad borderless window mode when you tab out/into the game while its loading which causes the Windows focus manager to ***** itself and make the game stick to foreground no matter what.
