Bellisseria Railroads - How does the switching system work?

Hey everyone, while pointing out a possibly bugged switch to Squeaky, they explained to me that if you see these little round green mechanical things near a branch/light, you should be able to stop and literally touch it to manually switch the track as desired.  So there are some user-controlled switches along the tracks.  This particular switch in Quercus Alba leads to a "fun" location if you go straight ahead. If you fork to the right, it leads into some currently unfinished track sections that were still indicated by orange lights at the time this was posted.

Also, beware the Bellisseria Slenderman if you see him along the tracks. I passed him by and then promptly crashed off the broken bridge.
Fun fact: you can flip your train around and drive back up the crash site and onto the tracks again!

Note: at the time I posted this, that section of track that leads to the broken bridge is all "unfinished" and indicated by orange lights, so you don't mess anything up by exploring this section of track (since orange sections aren't affecting the working sections of the signaling system).

One more small tip. This might be a personal anecdote and not a true mechanic, but twice now I've approached red lights and slowed down and stopped right in front of them. Twice, after stopping like that right in front of them, they would turn green pretty quickly and I could start up again and proceed without issue.

By contrast, when I've just gone plummeting at medium to fast speeds into a red light, my train has simply stopped (and flipped around because it's a model that does that when stopped by a switch). So.... maybe approaching slowly and stopping just in front of the switch gives the system time to react to your presence? Could be simple observation error on my part, but try it out!

The red lights should never be blinking, unless you mean the Crossing Barriers. They should reset themselves after a few minutes if it bugs out, please show me the locations if you experience issues like that. I can take a look 🙂

Aha!  Yes, I mean the crossing barriers.  I just noticed that the ones in Vic regions are old-timey and don't have lights, what a hoot!  And so much more maintainable!

These seem to be continuously blinking, for example.  It's not a big problem, not impeding traffic or anything, but just distracting if you live nearby.

Helping Squeaky debug the branch switches in Banebury, which have apparently not been working right for a while now. Safety is important! That's me in the train sitting safely down the tracks in the shade drinking some iced tea, while @Squeaky Mole hammers on the tracks and switches in the hot Bellisseria sun. OSHA would be proud of Squeaky's attention to roadside safety!

Ah yeah, I took a look at them. These "blinking" crossings are not working yet either. Once they are complete they stop constantly blinking I promise! 🙂
