I did not want to report this as a bug yet because no one else I have talked to IW is having this trouble so far. I have updated all my drivers and graphics card, uninstalled and reinstalled the server, cleaned the cache, etc.

Ever since the last update to V.2 (2.6.3) a few weeks ago, I have had these issues

-flashing "prims": These small boxes aren't really there but flash every few seconds on the screen repeatedly in various sims.

-Every single one of my Alpha Layers have morphed so they delete the areas around my head, my neck and parts of my shoulders in addition to the areas they are intended to delete.

When I remove clothing and then attempt to put new clothing on it put on the new clothing layer and then also random piece of clothing that I wore previously, sometime clothes I wore 2 or 3 outfits preiously. Like if i take of a shirt and put a new shirt on, it will put on a sock layer a skirt and a tattoo, or add 2 previous shirt layers that I wore, under the new one.

I have running my graphics preference on low or mediums, but that does not seem to make a difference. Anyone have any idea what the issue is and how to fix it, or should I report it as a bug?

I've not had these issue recently, but i had similar ones a while ago. What is the graphic card type you have, is it ATI or NVidia, also are you on MAC or PC. That would help to understand more your problem.

Also did you tried other viewer, such as Phoenix for instance, maybe they have a different way to handle your graphics.

I would suggest you as well to go to the Jiras and seach some of the issue you seem to have, http:/jira.secondlife.com

I know searching in the Jira can be sometime a pain but usually you find what your looking for with the right keywords. Plus looking there, if you add your comment on your issue, it help make the viewer better at the end of the day :)

HI, thanks for the reply. I have been parked on Jira for days trying to find similar bug reports but, with the exception of an old un-solved report about the flashing prim, no one else has reported anything that looks similar. Thats why I am not certain if it is the viewer. I have a friend using Pheonix and he says he see the invisible areas from the Alpha Layer issue so I know that is not just my graphic card and has to be an SL issue. None of this ws an issue until that last upgrade which is what makes me think it is a bug, but if i am the only one experiencing it, I hesitate to report it.

Here is my info if that helps any...

You may find the fix to the AV and alpha issues by using the SL Development viewer (2.6.9) or Kirstens S21(7a). In either case, it's advisable NOT to use outfits or inventory links that you created prior to the release of LLs official physics viewer (2.6.3). Wear each outfit piece using the original purchased item, then REcreate that outfit entry by making it a new outfit using the updated viewer.

Apparently, the problems come from LL having to adjust things to make room for the new physics data that now gets sent to the server along with your normal appearance and shape data (it never used to until just before 2.6.3 went official). Because of these new changes and the extra data that's now included, most V1 and some earlier V2 viewers are now NOT recognizing the appearance update when it comes back from the server, and as a result of how they are coded they are rejecting it, causing the appearance update to be dropped partially or completely. This is why older outfits and links are causing problems, why so many people using V1 and early V2 viewers have issues rezzing, remaining as clouds, seeing others as clouds or ruth, have issues displaying tattoo or alpha layers correctly, have issues changing clothing layers, and why the famous rebake doesn't seem to fix things like it used to. LL is moving forward with advancements, and those older clients that aren't kept current with the newest changes are experiencing compatibility issues due to the new system changes... in other words, the old V1 way of doing things is slowly being left behind.
