I didn't notice texture blurring going on in there. But I can go check again later. :)

Maybe my inventory cache is corrupt. I saw the texture as flash-flash-flash instead of twinkle-twinkle. I turnend it off in some walls.

I am probably the only one with a Hardy. I didn't see others. The back door out has that tiiny room, I wonder if I just leave it empty. I have a bench there now, but it looks so stuffed. I wish the door open out. But, wishes is not what Linden Homes are for. Must make it work. I think I have the style card ready in 6 hours, still swapping things.

For the style card, besides listing items used, be sure to add who YOU are.  If you're a builder/designer, please feel free to add that and any links you'd like to put in, also.

You really made me smile, Rae.  I feel the same way.  This has already been so fun and I, too have felt.. well, like what an honor to get to do this beside all of you.  I definitely want to do it again.  We'll be needing more room for the next one, @Patch Linden  lol

Oh, I should have said something about it. At least I told about all the editing I do. It may seem intimidating, talking about moving animations from furniture to other furniture. So... what's done is done.

Nearly done now. Had to swap out some pieces and such. I still have to furnish the back bedroom but pretty sure I'll manage. Having LL go down last night really stunk since weekdays I only have a few hours to work on it and that sucked away at least one of those *sighs*  I'm really happy with my interior although my exterior not so much but I figured that most people aren't quite as garden obsessed as I am and would prefer to see how homey it can be inside, not outside - so later today I'm going to continue revamping the landscaping a bit more, simplifying etc.

Cammed into most of everyone's houses and I'm blown away by what I've seen. Everyone has done a fantastic job and in some cases I'm astonished at how much is packed into the house (looking at you @Marianne Little !)

BTW as far as the notecard are we just writing down the objects and forwarding them or did we move to some kind of formal system for it?  And what is the absolute deadline for that? Sorry if this was covered - it's 5:45 am here, dashing this off before I leave for work in 1/2 hour (yep, I leave that early - I commute into NYC) .

I am still adding! Finding things to link. The houseboat is much more airy. It's the yellow Windlass with a white boat outside. Maybe the only Windlass? I had to be firm and don't clutter it, and keep it a more modern look. Dare I say masculine? The wardrobe has male clothes.

Linking!!!

I always forget. I did do the curtains and kitchen set. Need to see what I'm definitely not changing that I can maybe grab back some prims on.

You'll get more prims (sometimes!) by deleting the scripts inside of objects you don't need and linking them as well. I've done that with my toilet, tub, and bed - took out the animations, deleted the scripts and everything inside the object's contents where I could (unless doing so broke or otherwise effected the object, sometimes it will remove an object's texture completely) and then linked them all to the rest of my linkset. I've actually done that to my home in Belli too as they are all just decor to make the house look like a home but in all the months I've had a Linden home have never actually had a bath or used a toilet there or even have the intention to role play doing so there.  So  unless it's an object I use (chairs mainly) the rest are just decor and can be treated accordingly (again, sometimes). Trial and error will tell you if linking objects increases or reduces land impact but it's a system that has worked for me so might help you. :)

EDIT: It's worth adding too that sometimes just by deleting the scripts/contents of an object that you can potentially save a prim just by doing that and not even having to link it to anything else if linking makes you nervous. It doesn't always work and I'm sure the experts have the technical explanations as to why, but I can only tell you what I've seen and done. And since I don't use lights either (generally speaking, as I mostly rely on windlight) it's also a way to save prims and reduce scripts too.

Added something trivial at the end there. ^

I am trying to make my home studio make sense for those who are going to visit, and I must say how pleasant it has been to make this decoration, I will certainly finish it by tomorrow and after that I will hand over the style card as soon as I can stop making changes.
I only have one question: will it always be night on the island? (I love SL night) or will the day have its normal cycle?

I've noticed this also - seems like every time I rezz in to the area it's dark.

Great tip Rae. I use animations at my main house, which isn't Linden land but at the Belli house pretty much never do other than the chairs/couches and kitchens sometimes. Most of my objects are fairly low prim right now but I had swapped out the bed I love for another one so perhaps taking out the animations might lower the prim count enough so that I'm able to use it. I'll give that a shot when I get home tonight!

Now I want to change the livingroom curtains. This will not do. I must draw a line and say it is enough. Send help....

I don't think I can use 1 notecard. It is so much. Will be 2 or 3 notecards.

🥴

I feel your pain. I've shirked on other things to get this done and can't stop going back to tweak something or other. It's a habit that only seems to get worse as time goes on. I still tweak my current Belli home at random times, especially if/when I find something that absolutely needs to go in and I need the prims for it. That's when the games really begin trying to decide what stays and what goes... Forget shopping addiction, is there a support group for constant decorators I wonder? 🤔

At least finally I can say I am done (as much as I suspect I'd go in and tweak it right up until open and then beyond if I let myself). In the end I was actually struggling to meet that 351, that's not even a joke. I'm so used to having that buffer spare it felt wrong to have none. In the end as of typing this I have one prim left to use. ONE. Let's see if it's still spare tomorrow! *lol*

One of the best side effects to come from living in Belli is learning how to live inside those prim limits knowing there's absolutely no room for negotiating for more. Thinking back to when I first started SL and was renting places I always bought more prims and the places still felt lacking. If only I knew then what I know now. That's another reason I don't think I'd ever go back to mainland and forfeit my retirement in Bellisseria. That kind of freedom means I would never be satisfied. At least now I am. That says it all.

If you look at "more info" on the build dialog, the 3 weights that contribute to LI are Download (mesh cost), Physics (can be affected by making things convex hull or none Physics Type), and Server.  The largest number of the three will be the LI.  I've never seen an item's LI go down by deleting anims, objects, textures etc. from inventory.  But you can get LI down by eliminating scripts, which contribute to Server weight.

Last time I checked, the Server Weight equation was:  MIN{ (0.5*num_prims) + (0.25 * num_scripts), num_prims }. There may be a bonus decrease for having no scripts at all.

Wrt linking, the reason why linking mesh objects sometimes makes things worse is usually because of fractional weights.  If you link 2 7LI mesh  objects, each with download weight 7.4 and lower server & physics weights, the linked object weight will be 14.8=15, not 14.  (Incidentally, this may be why @Lulabell Mole 's wonderful staircase in Dog Paddle is unlinked).

And of course, if you link mesh with sculpties or even radial prims such as a torus, the LI can become huge.

Anyone who knows more about this, please correct if I'm out of date.  But this seems to correlate to what I see when furnishing.

Yes, always night (for now anyway).  So make sure people don't stumble :D and can see your great builds when it is midnight with full moon.

lol I didn't notice because I just have my sky set to always light.  I messaged Constantine though and he came right over and turned it to the default day/night cycle.  He said it was still set on night settings from when the regions were at Xmas Expo.  I'm sure glad you guys said something.  I didn't even think to check that.  SMH I should have.  I've been a major multi-tasking me this week.

Can't wait to see what you-all have come up with!  I'm so jealous of you getting to work so closely next to each other.  But this week has been tough RL, and besides I know my limitations as a decorator.  Glad you're doing your style cards!  ;)

I barely even know anyone else is there I'm so immersed in what I'm doing. My time is so tight to work on it. Poor Ghosty keeps trying to engage me in other stuff and I'm like please leave me alone, I need to concentrate on this! 🤣

I had to give you a sad face because you are so busy.

Back to glow. I admit that I set some things to glow 0.01 or 0.02. My color scheme is so dark, when I have deep red curtains, they look like black with a hint of red at night. And the same curtains tinted to be purple is even darker. In my opinion... a very low glow makes them better at night. But I switch between midnight and midday, several times. To see how it looks. And to find full bright items and edit them.

If any of you see something that my viewer or computer can't show, I hope you let me know.

Finally "finished" last night. Got the last room done yay!

Doing tiny tweaks now. I saw the expo signs were placed outside so crunch time now! @Nikki Mathieson until what time do we have today to finish completely? I don't get home until about 3pm SLT and will need an hour or two to make sure everything is properly in place and one last look around before I call it complete.

I also started working on gathering writing down info for the style card last night. I'm about half way done with that.

I took a trip in and deleted all my light switch on/off on lamps/fireplaces/stringlights. I am not sure if the script count matters, but I did not want the lamps turned off anyway. I deleted some other scripts, like colorchange.

Scripts are some of the things that people disagree about. That is my impression from other threads. I have time to remove more scripts from furniture, if some think it matters.

I think it matters. Less scripts can only be a good thing for the region as far as I'm aware, but again since I'm no expert I'm sure others can shed light there. I just think it's worthwhile, if my opinion counts for anything. :)

Also I caved. I knew I would. I used that last ONE prim earlier (I know, I know *lol*). But I had a valid reason. While I know RFL is an American foundation I felt I had to add a personal touch...

When he was first diagnosed the doctors gave my Dad five years to live. That was seven years ago. Thankfully he is still with us and still fighting Prostate cancer as we speak, and though he and I are both Australian, we all know cancer doesn't discriminate or care about nationality. So rather than plaster his face all over the internet or add anything Aussie to the display home I thought I would honour Dad and his battle this way instead.

And NOW I can say my home is finally done! ❤️

This is beautiful Rae. I am sure there isn't a single one of us who hasn't been touched by cancer in our famiies.

My mom, died of breast cancer. My dad had lung cancer although he didn't pass of it but I'm sure it was a contributing factor to his ill health at the end. My maternal grandmother had colon cancer - luckily survived and lived to be 103! Maternal grandfather? Brain tumor. And so forth.

I was at my annual gyn check up today and was reminded that I'm supposed to make an appointment to see a genetic specialist for counseling. Although I tested negative for the genes they know of thus far I'm still high risk because of family history. I am making that appointment ASAP.

Anyway, thank you for this reminder and I'm going to try to find something as meaningful for my house now. Love to you and your dad, may he continue the good fight ❤️
