Off-sim construction - way off

I didn't know this was possible.

All those mountains and mesas are off-sim.

I thought all that must be forced perspective, or a backdrop. No, it's full 3D.

 

You can't go there, but you can cam there.

That little section in the center is the actual sim. All the mountains are off-sim.

This is nice, if you prefer a mountainous or city background to water. I knew you could have off-sim objects, but this extends about 250m beyond the sim limits. It's an isolated private estate, so this doesn't hurt anything.

They are megaprim sculpts. They used to be quite popular and they come in sizes even bigger than that. I once had a tenant who thought it was a good diea to rez a 1024x1024 m surround landscape around the sky paltform she rented from me on mainland. Needless to say, the neighbours weren't happy.

Yeah I actually have a megaprim somwhere that is 65536x65536 meters.
