So, what's your complaint?  Do you want to rez your attack dog, and the land owners won't let you?  Or are you complaining about some other dog owner who's letting their pooch run loose in violation of the land owners' rules?

If it's the first problem:  The land owner makes any rules he or she wants.  They can keep you and your annoying dog out, and you have no say in the matter.

If it's the second problem:  Report the violator to the land owner.  They will take care of it, if they choose.  Or not.

In any case:  I would not be too upset about it.  Avatars cannot get rabies.

... and you have to read what you would like to quote as "proof" for your theory. It's a tad unfortunate if your proof actually proves you wrong.

Like the "This is a spoofing griefer item; it will rez items with your name as the owner (given that you are, in fact, the owner) to pass out more items." part.

So let's repeat: no inworld object can "steal" your account. Well. Unless it confronts you with a textbox, asking for your full login data and someone is actually that dumb to submit such info.

This is a resident-to-resident Answers area.  There are rarely any Lindens here, and they almost never participate.  If you have a question that you think other residents may be able to answer, please ask.  If you are having a problem with a griefer and cannot handle it yourself, please submit an Abuse Report.

1) There is no such thing as a "SL Virus".

2) "Stealing" an account and "taking control" of it as in "animating it" are two very different things. But both can usually be tracked back to the human at the computer...

3) And it's still not clear what you're actually talking about.

PS: One specific match of the search results when googling for "Rabies Second Life" is so brilliant. 🤣

Uh...no.

@jaja2939, exDepart is not a virus, and it cannot steal your account.  Since you didn't understand the Firestorm Wiki, I'll try to simplify:

  • You get a message from an object, that appears to be owned by someone you know.  "ExDepart, an object owned by Lindal Kidd, is offering you this object, "Freebies!"  Accept/Decline?"
  • You click Accept.  A new object called "Freebies" appears in your inventory.
  • You rez the object.
  • The object seems to disappear.  (Actually, it has teleported itself up to about 4000 meters)
  • Everyone in the region starts to get messages, "ExDepart, an object owned by jaja2939 Resident, is offering you this object, "Freebies!"  Accept/Decline?"

And of course, anyone who accepts the object is likely to perpetuate this little practical joke.

Aside from the annoyance of having to find and delete the ExDepart object, this does no further harm to anyone, although it might cost you a few friends.

All of which has nothing to do with mad attack dogs, "rabies", or anything else in your original post.

That's not a virus. It's a spoofing griefer object that rezzes and then sends out annoying items, making it look as if you are doing it.  ExDepart has been around for a long time.  It does not "infect" your viewer or computer. It cannot "steal" your account. It is simply an object that is rezzed in world and pretends to be you.
