Login failed. Account already logging in

Can't log into Second Life and keep getting the message 'Login failed. Account already logging in'.  I've restarted my computer and can log in with an alt but not my main Avatar. Anyone else had the same problem and is there a solutions to this.  Thanks in advance

#do you know which sim? sounds like you're stuck in the log in process, a restart of a sim usually clears that out.

IF you know where you left yourself, you can take your alt there and see if your avatar is still there.  We used to call this "stuck in the buffer". If you are premium you can likely (maybe still - they USED to do this) have live support pluck you out and then you log into a different sim. Or as mentioned they may restart the sim. If you have the ability to restart the sim then of course that would be the next thing to try.

On the notion of using an alt to visit yourself - if you find yourself showing up as online on your friend list or search (hint: always friend all your alts - it can be handy)... pay yourself $1L. That tends to force a status check which often logs out avatars stuck in a weird state.

Have pointed my SL mum and sister to this thread.  They have the same problem and it seems no matter what they do it remains the same.

 

It has been ongoing for too long, and Linden Labs aren't able to fix it.

I got that same error yesterday for about an hour, then logged in using an alt for about 2 minutes, and after that I was able to log in normally.

Perhaps that could work for you?

Yeah, I notice I usually get this error if I abort a login halfway through.

I find the error goes away if I just leave it for 10 minutes or so, and then try again.

Doesn't matter what they do, from restarting the computer, clean install of SL Viewer and Firestorm, logging onto alts, they just keep getting the same message on one account.  Impossible to log in.

Sad really as they are needed.

Computer and modem/router off overnight. You name it they tried.

Even sending them an IM will often cause them to become 'unstuck' and log off.
