Over the years on mainland I found that everytime I put up a multi-room house or skybox I spent almost all my time in only one of the rooms. The rest was just filler decor for whatever psychological reason also has me making sure to always put a toilet into my SL homes... So I started buying lofts so I'd get more use out of my buildings... I have a Victorian... but... it just has too many rooms and I don't really do anything with them but pop in there, look around, and then ignore most of it. I go in and out of this mode. Sometimes, I think I need a bathroom and sometimes not. When I start thinking that I don't need a bathroom, then I realize that I also don't really need a kitchen. That leads to: Since I'm not sexually active in SL, I also don't need a bedroom. Thus all I really need is a living room for lounging in and some outdoor furniture for relaxing outside. I have, in the past, had single room skyboxes that were simply furnished with living room stuff and nothing more inside. Alt A, who has contributed their 1024 to the group, can now lower their group contribution to 512, leaving 512 in their pocket to go get a camper. Hope this makes sense. I have two premium alts that held a Victorian and HB respectively, but I recently decided that as I'm spending more time at my mainland home I'd be better off using their 1024 allowances to boost my land group... Mostly we learned that the sentiment of this thread may be shared by many - perhaps it is because the Vic release was right before Christmas, but for sure very VERY few are furnished. Having learned what a Hardy looks like on the map we were able to find them very quickly. We looked at over 30 homes, and saw fewer than 5 that had more than two rooms furnished. We gathered an impression that many feel like the impressively beautiful Vics call for something special, and that some find themselves a little bollixed by that. They seem to put down a few things that they already own, and then ... hesitate. I'd gone 'all out' on the Apple Fall sale last year, so used all AF furniture when I had my Victorian. Maitimo Posted January 15, 2020 Share Posted January 15, 2020 The campers were too small for me, even with optimum camera position I am too tall to really manouver round in one. I had a similar problem with the Traditional houses. The houseboats though, are the perfect size for me, and still simple enough. I love them. Surprising because in real life my wife, my dogs & I have all squeezed into a 610 sq ft home for well over a decade and while IRL I do like the way small living focuses one, ie. less clutter, more time spend on experiences rather than things, I always had mansions in SL to compensate and indulge my inner decorator. On mainland, I've owned so many sprawling huge houses over the years. I got my first Linden Trad back in April, the month they launched and I've tried most every style of LH, except for the bungalows/ ranch style houses, because I just assumed I'd find them too constraining. The landscaping of the camper regions and Campwich Forest really impressed me tho, so a couple of my alts let go of very nice properties .... and I'm in love. The landscaping, the atmospherics, the coziness. I'm done house flipping. Sailing and photography from now on 😛 So here's to all the Moles and their artistic wonders! It took me ages to get out of the psychological need of putting a toilet in my SL home.
