It's getting weird...

As Sade once sang, "Is it a crime?"

I guess it's ok as long as it's kept in the privacy of one's home. I'm sure certain bdsm would be illegal if it was public.

This article popped up while googling Second Life and Sansar

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/j5yzpk/they-cant-stop-us-people-are-having-sex-with-3d-avatars-of-their-exes-and-celebrities

Interesting in a f'd up way...then again who am I to judge. Whatever floats their boats, I guess.

You know, I have to say... Most of those images look virtual.. I would say that some of the avatars in sl blow those out of the water.  I know I am a skimmer when I read, but I did not see a reference to second life, I must have missed it..  Yes, I see impersonator avatars all over MP.. I am sure this will be the object of some poor souls jerk off experience... https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Man-in-a-suit-complete-mesh-Avatar/9100322

Well, that was a deeply disturbing read.

And why does this not surprise? "Studies show that women are the most common targets of nonconsensual porn, and abusive manipulated imagery like deepfakes."

Ugh.

The moment that ex's start texting pictures of the things they are doing to the AV with your likeness ... it becomes a problem.

Imagine what a stalker could try to intimidate you with! Videos of you in the situations they wish you were in. 😬

This was illegal on DS9. 😆

Ugh.

Are there studies on overall porn consumption?  I would assume in general men watch more, but I recall wayyyyy back in the days of rental videos that women made up like 60% of the rental business (presumably to get hubby in the mood, I guess).

Question, which is more morally bankrupt - creating a 3d avatar of your ex to "play with" or creating a 3D avatar of a public figure who is famous for her sexuality, or the same but of a porn actress?

The most recent stats that I've seen suggest that porn use by women is growing, but that there are still roughly two to three times as many men using it as women. Also, the men who use it seem to use it (much) more often.

There's more porn produced by and for women now, but, at the same time, the unregulated stuff -- "gonzo porn" -- that is much more freely available online now is very heavily targeted at men.

I'm neither pro- nor anti-porn, per se, any more than I'm pro- or anti-vibrator (well, ok. I'm maybe a little pro-vibrator), but I do have concerns about the kinds of porn we're watching, and its impact on how we perceive, and actually have sex.

These are maybe somewhat different questions?

An obsession with an ex suggests some worrisome personal issues. Obsession with a porn star, on the other hand, is maybe more like being addicted to a particular product. It's not as personal, probably not as potentially dangerous, and represents something more along the lines of intellectual property infringement, rather than a personal violation.

I've noticed gonzo porn has also gotten much more...vigorous over the last few years, and stuff like incest and "brutal" porn is much more prevalent.  I'm not big on censoring or controlling what people watch or do in their own time, but one does wonder if this is vaguely "therapeutic" (engaging in fantasy and using porn as a relief valve) or if it leads to people acting out their fantasies.  I can't imagine many women being interested in watching a movie where the girl might as well be a pillow being scthupped by a big weiner like a jackhammer.  Sorry - trying to make sure I don't get censored...

Agreed.  Of course, you've been able to buy sex toys (like Fleshlights) modeled and molded on many actresses' naughty bits (and actors, I assume, since Clone-A-Willy (actual product) is a lot simpler), and the doll/robot companies have models of a long list of actresses.

Most men would boink a beer bottle if they were hard up and you put lipstick on the rim...

I started to deep dive this.  The creepy gif of the disembodied virtual hand going into virtual girl’s mouth like a porno and going on that subreddit, made me quickly back out.

This is the future though....Black Mirror baby.

As soon as I started dating my husband, all my exe problems went away, like instantly..

He's 6'5 280 pounds,  Ex-rugby player /Construction Contractor, worker/Tattooed up Samoan warrior,of a man that would love nothing more than to ring the neck of an exe messing with me..

But he's a teddy bear to those that know him real well..

Sometimes all it takes is a bigger boat.. hehehehe

Perhaps the logical extension of AFK sex? There's something weirdly unnerving about this. It's quite common in BDSM scenes and relationships to have the feeling of having your identity taken over (within the trusted context) but it's something else entirely to be engaging with someone who really, literally, isn't there. I don't know what I found most unsettling about that gif...that the girl wasn't really there or that even the man, presumably the real user for whose one-sided, sole benefit this is occurring, isn't there either...just a disembodied hand.

Yeah. Without going into details of the sort that would get me tossed off the forums, the trend is towards stuff that is at least notionally violent, or deliberately degrading. (I probably can't say "A2M," as an example of the latter here, can I? Oops. I did!)

I'm not big on censorship either -- and it's just not feasible, even were it desirable, in any case.

I think that the question of "relief valve" vs. "desensitization" and potential escalation is far too frequently characterized in reductively black-and-white terms. Some men will find it enough to enact their fantasies, without ever taking it further. We have had studies that demonstrate that. And some will become desensitized, or find that they need to escalate and/or act out as a result. We've had studies that demonstrate that as well. Humans are complex: they don't all respond the same way to things. And I don't know that a quantified response (e.g., there are more men who find it a "release" than there are who escalate their behaviours) is really a very satisfying way of solving the dilemma. We need a third way.

There is very clear evidence, some of it with regard to admittedly pretty harmless but still suggestive behaviours, that porn does influence sexual behaviours and expectations. I've read it about it . . . and I've heard it, anecdotally, from friends who are active in the hookup scene. It would be surprising were this not the case.

Generally, no. But part of this is again about expectations. In the Victorian era, women were taught that sex wasn't something they'd enjoy very much. And, surprise surprise, they discovered, many of them, that they didn't. Culturally-conditioned expectations can have an enormous influence, above and beyond what we'd think is the logical response of "I like this," or "I don't like that."

Hmmmph.

I remember a Masters & Johnson survey on sex in China back in the 80's.  The average sexual encounter lasted I think it was 2 minutes (it may have been less...), occurred with both parties still clothed, and women by and large didn't realize sex shouldn't hurt.  I sure hope things have improved!

I do wonder if things like A2M (which has actually been around for ages) have become so prevalent because so many young women go into porn nowadays.  I watched an interview a few months back where a producer said something along the lines of, "well, if a girl won't do ___, there are 10 other girls hotter than her who will".  The supply of talent has gotten so high that things almost nobody would do a few years ago are now minimum requirements to find work.  Perhaps if female-oriented magazines like "Teen Vogue" didn't put out articles encouraging young women to look at prostitution as a viable career choice, there would be less supply.

Here’s something. Brain changes according to what we do, what we pay more attention to. Virtual experiences are still experiences.
experience-dependent neuroplasticity - the brain's capacity to change in response to experience, repeated stimuli, environmental cues, and learning. ...

Since I've used Daz3d a lot...

This whole article looks like a modern version of 'reefer madness' meets 'D&D gamers in the tunnels under your school are planning to call the devil down'...

They are randomly mixing references to harmless art tools with extremely brief shots of the pre-ambles to '3D porn' and writing a lot of 'OMG OMG OMG!!!' into the text in-between...

There's a whole lot "we logged in and saw freaks over that way... somebody get Bubba and the dogs out here..." in that article.

It's just a 'freak them out click bait' story...

I would think anyone who's been around the block in SL would recognize this kind of stuff... youtube used to full of stories of "those furry freaks in SL are eating your babies..."

I learn so much from this group of people here... Never heard of Gonzo porn. ( I have never really been into porn much though).. But the first image that came to mind was of the Muppet and I gotta say that would be some sick kink for sure.

My first thought upon looking at this is "Yeah, right... 'ex-girlfriends'... they wish."

Reading the words of these guys screams incel living in a fantasy world where they've actually had sex because... incel.

If someone is doing this with celebrities, though, is it ethically or morally different than getting off to fantasies? I can't tell you the number of men (and a few women) I've banged in my mind while taking care of business. If I created an alt that looked identical to Harry Styles or Taylor Swift, and used them for naughty times, is that different from just closing my eyes and imagining it?

Genuine question because I think it'd be creepy as hell to do that, but I don't know why when I have no issue with mind-banging them.

As a man, I'm deeply offended by that remark. But is it a *****ty bottle though?

Joke aside, digitizes anyone in real life into sex dolls without permissions and passes them around is no different than posting revenge porn, it should be illegal. All it takes is one nutjob to realizes there's a real person out there who looks exactly like his/her vr sex doll, things will not end will for that person.
