Racism isn't restricted to any single skin color or race in SL.I was wandering a mall that was attached to an adult area and had several maxed out black males tell me i was in the wrong place and better leave before i got hurt. I admit, i laughed my butt off at that as you cant actually hurt someone in SL. but i did leave as i didnt need any toxicity. I also left a few IMs to the store owners telling them i was kicked out for being white and they lost any business i may have given them.

It happens with any skin color as I ran into to something like that while back but was with a group of avis speaking Hindi and harassing ones in the shop that spoke English.

Interesting bit of info related to that, there were over 862,000 abortions reported in the US last year, Planned Parenthood did 345,672. Which means more than half of them were done by doctors outside of Planned Parenthood. You dont see Trumpers standing outside major hospitals protesting though...

Evil means different things to different people. My MIL thinks all Non-Christians are evil and need to be saved. My 17 year old thinks Mid-terms are the most evil thing in existence. My 15 year old thinks a 10PM bedtime is. Me, I think Kidney stones rank right up near the top..

And sometimes one has it done due to a life threatening condition, like on of my relatives. It hurt her so bad and needed therapy --- but a year later she adopted a set of twins.

"Darwin's theory of natural selection is a profoundly powerful explanation of how evolution works; its undoubted success strongly suggests an inherently antagonistic relationship between unrelated individuals. Yet cooperation is prevalent, seems beneficial, and even seems to be essential to human society. Explaining this seeming contradiction, and accommodating cooperation, and even altruism, within Darwinian theory is a central issue in the theory of cooperation."

I wonder about natural selection when someone looking on their stupid phone steps into the crosswalk against the light and get hit by a city bus.

I'd agree but I don't want to see all life and the planet itself destroyed. Just the humans that are mucking it up for all the other species that live here.

Sorry. It is funny but I just don't have it in me anymore to be amused by it. Not when I see things like what happened at Celilo Falls continue to happen.

Keep destroying the only home we have and one day there won't be a home any more. There won't be any more children or grandchildren to eff things up for either. I don't believe that is what people really want but then again, I'm not a member of any political party. Never have been and never will be.  They're all hell bent on destruction.

PS: If "one" is arguing that only pure -isms count, then that is a fallacious point. There are darned few, if any "pure" -isms in the world, whether that is capitalism, socialism, communism. Most everyone is on the spectrum of having some kind of socialism involved in their governments. Some more than others. To say that Social Security or Medicare aren't socialist programs because they do not exist in a vacuum of a pure socialist environment is utter twaddle, not to mention misinformed and moronic. The same is to be said for other programs for the greater good, such as roads and schools.

Now I really do need to vacate this thread, if only for a while. I need to do some aftercare. Aftercare, for you tender vanilla types, is a reference to something done in BDSM after a scene. And that's what this thread felt like, for a variety of RL quality of life issues. For some of us, these discussions are not just fun, theoretical punditry. For some of us, they are literally food-on-the-table and such issues. That's the politics part. Trump being evil is something different, from a core moral standpoint, the man is bankrupt.  And this thread is a little too close to the zomg-he's-a-Trump guy? thing I had not too long ago, and honestly, I still miss him. Just slap me upside the head. (I'm a masochist, I'd like it.)

Yes, although according to some theories of natural selection, cooperation was also important. I see the problem now as being over-individualistic and unable to cooperate adequately enough.

Neh I've passed enough stones I barely notice any more.

You're right, which is why labeling ones opponents "evil" is dangerous.  Once a debate goes from facts and conclusions to moral judgements and emotion, bad things happen.

i have a 30 mm stone that is being removed on Thursday.. I'd like to see anyone pass that...

Funny how Humans think they are something special. I saw this Doc a while ago and some science dudes went into this salt mine that was like a mile or so deep. they took samples of the salt there, took it back and found that inde the salt crystals there were pockets of water, and int hat water was bacteria. they dissolved it in a sterile solution and found the bacteria came alive.

This salt was formed back in the Jurassic.   Lets see humans do that.

Not all blood pressure medicines are identical. Somehow I don't think the two of you are taking the same thing.

Being that I doubt you've ever seen either of our pill bottles, whereas our have sat on the same nightstand, I'll take my word for it over yours, thanks.

And "misinformed" is also incorrect. Go back to read what socialism is. Self-titling something socialism-lite does not make something so. Even if correct, it is still socialism.

IQ tests vary from era to era and country to country. I'm suspecting that a score of 197 was an outlier from a non-standard test, or from a test substantially different from the ones where you got the 140-150s. I put very little stock in such tests, they are only useful to a point, and yes, in some ways they only test your ability to take tests. I have found no need to take more than the one that was required of us in high school, which was a long time ago, and so I have forgotten the exact score but it was between 161 and 163 inclusively. The piece of paper is still around, in some box in a box in a storage place. I will just take you at face value and your word about you being a moron in some ways.

Sigh

" a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. "  Which is most certainly not what is happening in any European democracy, UNLESS you put the entire emphasis on "regulated".  You're correct, self-titling socialism to mean roads and welfare programs doesn't make it socialism.

I once got a 130, but in my defense, I was seriously hung over and had gone on a Taco Bell binge, so I wasn't at my best.  I also put minimal stock in IQ tests, because experience long ago taught me long ago that there are a lot of educated idiots and smart fools in the world, especially on college campuses.

"This statistic displays the patented drug average price ratio of foreign to Canada, as of 2017. The ratio of prices in the United States to Canada was 3.21, which indicates that the prices of patented drugs in United states were very high when compared to Canada."

"Patented" drugs.  As opposed to "generics".  And who is paying the prices in the study?  Is that the price to me, the consumer, after insurance?  Before insurance?  The price the pharmacy is paying (ie. wholesale)?

This thread was not enjoyable, especially not the part about socialism, welfare and lazyness. I have a good friend in SL who's a Trump supporter (I'm not, but I'm german so I do not vote for anyone in the US myself, d'uh) - we argued about that specific point. Obviously, we didn't agree - however, I listen to his points, and he listened to mine, and we came to the conclusion that it's complicated. I understood his perspective a little better, and he mine. I have a friend who's ultraleft,  who has some ideas and notions I do disagree with. Same with her. I listen to her, she to me, we try to understand each others perspective a little better, and keep that in mind. That's how I like my political discussions - civil and with empathy. Trying to understand, not to attack a percieved weakness.
However, for some it's a thing of passion. And I think that's okay as well. Heated diskussions can be good as well. As long as people can calm down again, I guess.

It was a Buzzfeed quiz.

You're so witty.  Of course, considering you claim to be able to doubt whether 2 people are taking the same medication without ever seeing them or the bottles, I suppose Buzzfeed is about the summit of your intellectual capabilities.

Now, rather than continue to trade insults, how's about we all just be mature and mosey on back to RL?  You feel free to get the last word, I'll be busy doing something more useful.
