Yep don't bite...it's typical for the conservatives to come in with an attempt to anger people through obnoxious comments, get a thread closed when they are being shown to be wrong.

Politics in general has always been present within Second Life and like it or not, if it does not violate the ToS or CS then they will not take any action whatsoever. Furthermore even if they do take

I'm more suprised that you ever thought people would leave their opinions (and therefore also their political views) 'at the door' when entering SL. Why should they do that? You sound like someone won

In these last two days, I had encounters with Trump supporters who filled their profiles with hateful messages. Specifically, profile pictures showing gun violence, groups promoting lies that were dis

Individual vs the group is always in tension.

I think we've gone too far to the right and need to dial it back to a more central position.

If you look at Bernie Sander's website, he is not recommending these extreme leftist positions you are citing.

Mao killed at a conservative estimate 30 million via starvation due to his policies I dont care about bernie sanders I dont care about your economically illiterate beliefs, the left are far far worse than nazis

We have to consider individual and group rights...going to either extreme is what causes most of the problems.  So it really doesn't matter 'who is the baddest'.

The left dont consider the individual because the collective is all, the individual doesnt matter whether they live or die as long as the collective becomes stronger....you are the borg

If there is no concern whether individuals live or die, and they die, then a collective can't exist can it?

The collective is just a group of individuals.

By protecting the collective, we disallow one individual's ability to overrun the rights of other individuals -- this is the goal.

Oy. We've been over this in this very thread. Which "left" are you referring to? Sounds like the ultra extreme, and the narrow, old definition. Go back a few pages, click on the link to the Stanford philosophy page and see how there are more than one types of "left" and "Socialism." By the way, if you want people to take you seriously, and I have no idea if you do or not, but when people are discussing things at a relatively high level, you might want to type in complete sentences with at least a nod to correct punctuation. Just a suggestion. You do you.

dont care about stanford university definitions they are american and you lot have wierd political views.

Most of europe however has been a lot further left than people like obama, not extremist etc in the last 20 years and in that time inequality has grown, wages have stagnated and living standards have dropped. This is why most european countries are moving to the right electorally. The left simply does not work no matter how mild. Even sweden has lurched signifigantly to the right in its electoral patterns. No one who has lived under an extreme left government will vote for one, those that have lived under soft left governments are increasingly voting for more right wing ones as they realise the left simply doesnt work

It isn't a weird American point of view article. It is a scholarly paper that explains the history and context of socialism and "the left." But I get that you can't be ars*d to actually read something and be informed.

I'd say the left stopped fulfilling their promise of being 'for the people'...they stopped protecting labor or the working class...they were bought out by moneyed interests.

Unfortunately the working class was duped into believing the right would protect them more, but it won't.  You only have to study the policies of the right in both countries to know this.

The problem is not a left-right fight....the problem is that the money is being funneled to the top as capitalism tend to do without enough regulation.  Money and power engenders more money and power for those who have it...due to its influence.

The left never worked, many communities were ***** holes and elected left wing representatives since world war 2....they are still ***** holes because the left arent interested in fixing them. The left have a vested interest in inequality as its their core point of existence...elect us and we will cure it....for some reason they never do I wonder why

For awhile the US became more progressive and it was working better for the average person.  We got Medicare and Social Security -- the New Deal.  The wealthy paid far more taxes then.  The economy was good. People could afford homes. One salary was enough to support a household.  In the 70's though, as the right took power the middle class has increasingly been hollowed out...and money sent to the top in society -- multinational corporations.

I regard her as not ( the extreme that is ) .

She's pointing out to the root of evil. If money gets involved on either side it totally corrupts. This nation , and therefore the rest of the world, is not divided into left or right , but demand and supply.

And it's perpetually being fed from both sides. We are all a part of the same problem. No side is right. Or left. Or wrong.

I'm not sure how having a concern for the disadvantaged in society, and wanting to funnel more money to them and less to multi-national corporations, would be considered extremely on the left.  Only in today's climate, and from those who are spouting such silliness and insuring that those with most of the wealth keep it.
