Most exciting start to a new year in LIVING MEMORY...I feel 50% excited, 50% panicking for not having had it yet.

Has anyone tried it yet? Can anyone report on what it's like? I was going to get one tomorrow but would appreciate some feedback.

Thus far, I have tried the impossible burger - only to learn it really doesn't taste like beef, and it's actually worse for you health wise than a similar sized beef patty (about the same saturated fat and calories, and a lot more salt).  Not sure why KFC, which isn't a burger place would opt to do a vegan burger, but whatever - I only go there when I can go inside and eat mashed potatoes and cole slaw and have a craving for chicken.

I'm waiting for the "marrot" myself.

Nope, and don’t plan to. I was 100% vegan for a little over a year once and the things I loved most were the most wholesome foods that were what they were, not ground up who-knows-what trying to pretend to be meat. There were a few exceptions, but I honestly don’t think I would have wanted to eat this kind of thing.

Many of our sides, salads, desserts of fruit compote etc are vegan-based, only sometimes adding in non-vegan things...so eating about 80% things that I can recognize what they were is still a thing for me. Veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes.

The whole point of me being a vegetarian is to not have to see, smell, or taste anything that resembles meat or fecal matter (I have a little trouble distinguishing them)... so I avoid these kinds of things.

Most frustrating is seeing places replace veggie burgers with that impossible thing...

Then again... what's this doing on the SL forums?

Nope, I've been a vegan for almost 20 years, and it is not aout a diet. It's a lifestyle with strong ethical concerns, who make someone stay away from places like the one you're mentioning...

Food and fashion are 2 of the safest RL/SL crossover topics? I don’t mind.

‘still not gonna eat this tho...’

That is a good thing! 🏵 I’m thinking I’ll do Meatless Mondays for 2020. A RL Resolution.

I think vegans should see these fake burger attempts as a good thing because if/when they can finally subsidize meat, it's a big win.

Even if you don't wanna eat it or buy it from a store (you don't have to get vegan meat from a fast food place), it can help some people transition from meat even in its imperfect state.

This silly chest-pounding thought-purity contest is weirder than the product itself.

I can't bring myself to walk into a fast food place let alone eat anything from them..

I don't even allow fast food in my house..The smell just overtakes everything else..

If my kids want to go get ice cream from the dairy queen or something, that's different and there is a drive thru..

Those places are just terrible for getting food that is good for you..

There are usually 3-5 threads at a time just on the first page of General Discussions (I never go past page 1) that are non-SL related, yet LL does nothing about it.  Just another example of them being absentee landlords.

I don't eat meat because I dislike the texture of it, rather than for ethical reasons, so I am interested in this burger. I'm sure I will like the taste of it, whether it tastes like real meat or not. It will be the texture of it that makes or breaks it for me.

KFC on the other hand... I don't think I have ever had an order fulfilled correctly from that place, and their staff are rude and totally useless at their job. And the portions of fries are too small.

I just cannot bring myself to eat fake meat, I value myself as top of the food chain, I would be insulting all the prior animals humanity as a whole had eaten if I ate an impossible burger.

Now excuse me while I go to White Castle to eat a dozen tiny hamburgers for lunch.

I was eating with my parents and they ordered a beyond burger not knowing what it was. I was not able to convince them it was not meat. I did try a bite and it tasted meaty but the texture was too soft. I think the fake meat sandwiches aren't made for vegans but for people trying to save the planet by reducing methane but a KFC methane reduction sandwich doesn't sound that good.

I've had that impossible whopper, too - it Tates pretty good, though different from the regular stuff. The other reason, other than tree-hugger benefits, is supposed to be that's healthier (less unhealthy?) than the regular stuff. Though every nutritionist report I've read about all these plant-based meat substitutes are that they are not healthier in any meaningful way.

The regular meat has a lot of alt added to it and so the sodium content is almost the same. Though there is less fat, there is more carbohydrates, and the calories savings is, what? 150 calories? It hardly makes it worth the higher price. Unless you actually enjoy the flavor of it.

As for the vegans and such: why would you go into a place that specializes in dead animal products to begin with? LOL
