Question

Hi everyone,

I have a premium account. I have been premium for about 8 years. I have had LL homes and recently bought land and set it to my group (Ivory's Way). I sold that and anyone who was in my group received some Linden's. Now I rent land because Linden Lab homes #1 are not great and #2 the amount of prims (land impact) is very low. So, I feel it's time to go to a basic account; only it won't let me. I get this error and don't know what it means; can someone help me?

An error occurred while processing your request

  • Basic users may not contribute land to groups. You must delete the tier contributions you made to groups which you belong before downgrading to the Basic Plan

It's actually exactly what the error says: it seems as if you still have your tier allowance deeded to your landgroup and that keeps you from downgrading.

You can check that either inworld in your group's settings or on your dashboard under Land Manager > Group Land.

Also, you will have to manually tier down to 0 at https://secondlife.com/my/account/landfees.php?lang=en-US. It won't happen automatically.

I don't understand what this means or how to change it. Is it best to delete my group?

Before you downgrade, Ivory...are you aware that some of the new Linden Homes are on 1024 parcels, and have a land impact allowance of 351?

Hi Lindal,

Even if the houses are nicer and parcel is 1024m, it's still only 351 LI. When I first started as a premium member, the parcel was only 512m, but the LI (prims) was 352. Then they brought it down to 175 LI and raised the premium price along with the fee for buying Lindens. I buy a lot of lindens. It was, I believe, 49 cents then went to 99 cents and now it's $1.49. I don't think premium members should even get charged that fee. It may be small to some, but it adds up after a while. But, thank you for the information.

The only thing I will miss is being able to get into most events quicker than basic members, but that's not worth $99/yr.

*hugs you*

no go to your group profile, at the last tab remove the landdonation.

OK, I went to my group profile:

Last tab is Experience and there is nothing for me to remove. I went through all the tabs and I see nothing that says or allows me to "remove the land donation.

Ivory, unless I am seriously mis-remembering, Linden Homes never had a parcel land capacity of 352.

When they were first introduced, all of them were on 512 sq m. parcels.  The root prim of the house was off-parcel, on LL-owned land, so the house prims didn't count against the parcel's capacity.  (This is still the case today).  At that time, all Mainland had 50% less land capacity.  A 512 parcel could support only 117 prims.  Subsequently, LL increased the capacity of Mainland by about 50%, and slightly less on private estates.  That gave 512 sq. m. parcels their current capacity of 175.

1024 parcels, being twice as large, support twice the prims, or 351.  There are even some Mainland areas that have double prim allowances.  One such area is the Horizons regions, which allow 703 prims on their 1024 sq. m. parcels.  However, because of this and other desirable features, Horizons parcels cost an arm and a leg to buy...they start at about $L40,000.

While I am something of a prim hog, even I can decorate a small house and stay within 351 prims.  I prefer the space and prims permitted by a 4096 parcel, but I think the 1024 Linden Homes are a very good option, especially for someone making their first venture into virtual land and home ownership.
