Gopi Passiflora 181 Posted Monday at 12:47 AM I wanted to pose this question here to get more of a female perspective, because I know the majority of people posting here are women. To begin I'm not much of an online dating person - either in Second Life or elsewhere on the Internet. However, I'm a frequent tourist of Las Vegas and I'm amazed by the different types of people there, of both men and women. Whenever I'm in Vegas I'm there partially with the hope I might meet that special lady. I usually visit a bar where I can dance with people, some of them women. While I enjoy dancing there I have never ended up with a relationship. I know I haven't been trying hard enough but at the same time I'm also picky. Although I might boost my efforts a little next time I'm there. Overall I was just wondering what you think about finding relationships in Las Vegas. Sandy Schnook 209 Posted Monday at 01:02 AM Las Vegas is just another city once you get off the Strip or out of the downtown area. I lived there for 2 years, and am thinking of moving back. However, if you are looking in the main tourist areas, then you take your chances.
Bree Giffen 1,632 Posted Monday at 03:57 AM Well, it has a constant influx of people from different places who are looking for fun. It's also very easy to get married there. However, people might falsely equate the happy feelings they have in Vegas as feelings they have for another person.

Quote Las Vegas is the undisputed wedding capital of the world. Last year, the Clark County Clerk’s Marriage License Bureau issued 80,738 marriage licenses, at a rate more than double any other jurisdiction in the country. On the other hand... Quote While Nevada is a wedding mecca, it’s also the divorce capital of the country. For decades, it has had the highest divorce rate in America. Nevada is a community property state so you pick your own poison, I guess. https://lasvegassun.com/news/2015/jun/15/las-vegas-wedding-mecca-and-divorce-capital/ article is from 2015
Beth Macbain 7,974 Posted Monday at 04:17 AM Do You live near Vegas? And are you talking about the Strip or off the Strip? I lived there for six years and found the people there mostly broken - it attracts addicts and a very transient population. There are much better places to look, IMO. 1

I don't live near Vegas, but I still go there at least once a year with my parents. And I'm talking about the tourists on the Strip. Thank you all for the input, though!
Jeremy Shelman 6 Posted Monday at 06:55 PM Well, this isn't the female perspective, but I'm wondering if you're really looking for a "relationship"? If you are looking for a relationship, my advice would be not to look anywhere or go anywhere that you're not willing to go to every day of your life. Sometimes fate throws us a curve ball and our hearts have to walk a long way to be with the one we need to be with. It's difficult, and most of the time it's not like the Hallmark movie, it doesn't work out. If you're happy with your life and location, then look around you. If you're unhappy with your life, then spare a stranger the heartache. They won't make everything okay. Find a place where you're happy first. 2

If I was visiting Vegas, I likely wouldn't consider any hookup there to be relationship potential - especially if we didn't both actually live near each other. 1

If you are not planning a move there, it sounds more like a fling than a relationship. However, relationships have started all over this world and some in very unique ways. I was wondering why you didn't like online dating though? Almost everyone in my family who wasn't in a relationship, are in a relationship now with someone they "hooked up with" on Facebook. And, by "hooked up" I mean because they knew each other in their past and reconnected on Facebook. One of them though...they both knew each other from a group they both attend for singing events...and then started to communicate on Facebook and now are bf and gf. I'm not suggesting it's a wonderful idea...but how about just dating people you were comfortable with in the past and connecting with them on Facebook? People you know already, I mean...or knew before. Meet for coffee or something casual. Just a suggestion.

I didn't know want to call them...they are events where people get together to sing and perform. My sister messaged the man on FB with this line: "I hope your wife appreciated the song you sang last night". And he messages back, "I'm not married." And the rest is history and going well for the both of them. Yay!
Ceka Cianci 4,243 Posted Tuesday at 04:51 PM We stayed there for a short bit when I was younger when we were getting my grandmothers things ready so she could move out with us.. Let me just say,I'll never go on vacation there..hehehehe I was thirteen when me and my sister decided to take a look at the strip during the day time.. We were told to stay away from the strip, but we didn't listen.. We went by some casino, just passing by and some man came outside and up to us and wanted to give us his keys to his Lincoln that was around the corner for a few dollars, so he could win his money back.. we just ran away from him..he looked scary, road hard and put up wet.. We never went to the strip again after that..It didn't take much to set me and my sister straight after seeing that guy.. every time after that when we would drive through there, just passing through,I would look at the casinos to see if there was any people outside of them that looked road hard and put up wet.. It just changed everything for me after that about that place..hehehe We were only there for the summer.. I remember slot machines just everywhere also.. She lived behind this store called safeway..they even had slot machines in the stores and gas stations and everywhere.. like gumball machines..

Pixie Kobichenko 1,160 Posted Wednesday at 03:40 PM I don't know if it's still the case but for a long time the tagline for the Las Vegas tourism commercials was what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Doesn't really lend itself to the idea of making romantic connections for a long-term relationship....

Madelaine McMasters 20,519 Posted Wednesday at 03:52 PM (edited) 27 minutes ago, BelindaN said: What does "put up wet" mean? If you ride a horse hard, she's gonna break a sweat. You don't want to put her back in the barn that way, but rather ease up at the end of the ride, then take off the saddle and let her wander around a bit to cool off. Similarly, after a tough workout yourself, you'd strip down, cool off, and take a shower to make yourself more presentable. Horses, and people, who work hard and don't get a break... look like it. Pixie has shown you a more modern interpretation of the phrase, but I (and I think Ceka) understand it to mean someone or something that looks worn out, either by effort or circumstance. I've always loved the phrase, "ridden hard and put away wet". It's so very open to interpretation.

Nothing feels better to them than a nice cool breeze and a roll in the dirt or hay.. you can overheat a horse and even kill them putting them up wet.. they are very strong animals but also very delicate as well.
