What I learned about SL this week.

Ah, sorry, that's not what I meant, although I do think a lot of people have some reason to choose not to criticise Gor, and I think I know what it is. I meant, within the SL/online community, from my perspective at least, plenty of justified criticism for 50 Shades but a shed load of apologists for Gor. And while 50 Shades is better known, if it has any kind of on or offline subculture along the lines of Gor, I haven't come across it and I think I would have by now.

That's a perfectly fair point. I don't really have an answer for that. Perhaps because of the whole "SL lets you live out fantasies" thing? Except of course that doesn't explain why 50 shades gets so much heat... yeah, it's not a fun situation.

I know we've been talking about creating a "feminist pornography" for decades now, but clearly attempts to reform porn to make it more inclusive and less misogynist are losing ground.

Just to pick back up on this point (now that the topic has been moved out of General);

Porn that is 'more inclusive' and less misogynistic exists. There's an entire subgenre dedicated to porn made by women (mostly) for women (mostly), and the most popular amateur (of the homemade rather than exploitation variety) videos are some of the most vanilla adult videos you will ever see.

But inclusivity is not the same as uniformly fitting one standard. There are and will always be porn out there that degrades women. There also will always be videos of women playing "pop the bubble wrap" with a stiletto and some poor soul's gonads; such is the joy of variety. And as much as I'd love it if the default wasn't a mixture of slapstick-fake moans and genuine expressions of discomfort, I'm not sure what more can be done without employing a porn commissariat.

Honestly, I really think it's because 50 Shades was by a woman, for women, and popular with women. It may also have something to do with 50 Shades lacking the costumes and Cardinal Puff rituals that attract a lot of people to Gor, but as a society, across the board, we are really just always so far harder on bad female behaviour. Everything that's offensive in 50 Shades is present in Gor in many more orders of magnitude, plus a hell of a lot of other really disgustingly hateful stuff. Yet Gor is constantly given defences (it's just fantasy, it's just a story, it's just silly tripe, don't be so judgemental, etc etc etc) and yet somehow when it's in a female lens, suddenly everyone manages to see it for what it is.

And 50 Shades is only three books and one film. John Nobhead has been tantrumming over Women's Lib for nigh on 60 years.

Most of y'all don't have RL collars. Just sayin'.

I did. I still have it in a bag in my cupboard. Actually more than one. The aesthetics of it evolved over time.

One thing, this weak, I... not so much learned, but have been made hyper-aware of, is how threads with intended subjects by the author can become so far derailed because of... well, perspectives. LOL

Oh well, *shrugs*, with the best of intentions, it got away from me and ended up in the adult section. Like the first flight of a paper plane.  Threads never go where you would like 'em to.

I knew that before last week though.

So my plan of blogging  discoveries has foundered on a rocky shore.

Back to the drawing board. Do they use drawing boards nowadays? Maybe not. So back to the CAD software.

Oh too much wine isn't  good. I might say something stupid........"too late" you say....😂

I don't like things restricting my neck outside of hands in very specific situations where the emotion outweighs my brain wanting to freak. So, no collars in real life here. Just a ring from an older relationship decorating my headboard next to a treasured plushie. 🥰
