Coming out of seat on Sim Crossing

Recommended Posts

Hi ya,

I seem to be coming out of my seat when flying various vehicles across sims.  Just wondering if I have missed a super secret "Stay in Seat" setting in LSL or FS Viewer. If not, then I'll just try not to let go : )

Nope, that's unfortunately "expected behavior" for many vehicles.  There are ways to limit the behavior, and some vehicles do it rather well.  If yours doesn't: (1) slow down before you cross a region border or (2) avoid flying in and out of busy regions.

In the background, technically you aren't getting unseated, when you cross region border, your avatar and vehicle are re-created in the new region, you are then silently re-seated, and the client pretends that this didn't happen.

When you end up "unseated" it means that something has gone wrong during this (complicated) handover.

Rolig and Kyrah's answers are better than mine, but if the need is limited to you and your friends, a quick fix might be to use Firestorm's stop-at-region crossing feature.  Type these keywords in your favorite internet search engine: Movement region crossing Firestorm Predict Original behavior Stop Experimental option

If you're scripting your own, you use the "changed" event (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Changed) to detect a region crossing, but you still have to figure out what your script to do once you've detected the region crossing.
