I first read this as if it was about the souls of the people, who made the individual parts of the avatar. Like an abomination, sewed together from the corpsesof the innocent, their souls bound together in never ending agony...

Next, how does an avatar move (teleport) from place to place?  What is moving the avatar?   And, by move...I don't mean the animations...I mean teleporting.

These questions are coming from a non-Geek so simplifying would be helpful if possible.

Never even thought about it.. Thats like asking what makes mario jump, or how portal guns work. I'm now asking myself why it matters. What you will do with this info.
