Contest Boards and Games

I have been looking at Contest Boards.  Some show the names while there is one where the names are not shown until voting time and then the people are sent a menu to vote from.

My question is in regards to lag.  The drop down menu ones say they are lag free and the Contest Boards that show names say it is possible for the text to lag.

If anyone has had experience with Contest Boards, are the ones that show text laggy?  Because I do not want lag.  

Next, regarding games I've been looking into....what does "grid wide" mean?  How could someone who is on another part of the grid and not on my sim play the game?  

And, if you have experience with Contest Boards, what is the best one that is NOT lag intense?
