Linden are though working on it and we will be able to change our names one day soon.  When soon is, we don't know. In Lindenese 'Soon' is some time before 'Never'. Linden have said that changing names requires a lot of work, they are working on it, be patient please. So all we can do is wait

You can't change your user name, but you can add a "Display Name".  Depending on how other people have their viewers set up, they will see your Display Name, your user name, or both.  Most people will call you by your Display Name.

As Molly says, LL is working on a way to allow people to change their user names.  But until that happens, the only way to get a different user name is to sign up for SL again, creating an alternate account, or an "alt" as we call them.  You can transfer money and transferable items from your Dikstr Divisadero account to the new one.
