How much data does sl take when running,?  Like per hour maybe...I've lost internet and seeking alternative ways to run second life any suggestions or information would be great tysm in advance!! 😊

A lot more than you would think, if you don’t go anywhere and the place you login is mostly cached, then you just have to deal with a tiny amount of information from other avatars. I’ve gotten away with using tethered 3G off my phone that way (comparable to slightly faster than 56k dialup).

But you have to turn avatars off, some people’s avatars are 10-30mb each and a bunch of them loading at once will eat up hundreds of megabytes of data. Loading spaces as well can be extremely data intensive.

I wouldn’t use mobile phone data for that. If you just want to chat then disable 4G LTE, tether over 3G and use something like radegast as a text viewer to talk to people with next to no mobile data usage.

Many places have free WiFi. You'll have to get out of home to play SL though. You could turn down your graphics settings and turn down avatar rendering to make people appear as jelly dolls. If you just want to chat you can use the SL text only viewer Radagast.

Expect to use around 1GB of data per hour, and this is when staying away from busy places & with draw distance dialed right down.

and THAT is exactly WHY I pay for unlimited band width/unlimited data with my ISP,  well put Whirly! ^^

Even if absolutely everything is cached and all avatars are disabled, there's still a ton of "hidden" data such as object updates to your viewer (even from some that appear to do nothing) and out-bound data to the sim (even if you don't touch the mouse/keyboard).
